The amount we’ve raised the floor reminds me of that scene in Star Wars where they’re Han, Leia and Chewbacca are in the trash compactor room about to be crushed to death.

Again, there re so few options that are elite at CF/LW that you, by default, will need to convince the player of the move, make them tell their club they want to leave and then offer the big fat cheque that will be needed to make it happen.

Again, you can go the Diomande route, but the club seems unwilling to do so.

At one point you need to raise the ceiling, and at CF and LW there's very little ceiling raisers to go around.

The alternative to this is taking a chance on an up and coming talent like Diomande or even Kroupi, but since we seem unwilling to take that chance, we're back to having to make the guys with elite attackers sell or waiting to get lucky that one of them become available.

This is why I can’t get my head around fans thinking we’re massive favorites. We’re very clearly not as things stand. There are so many question marks and defense will most likely be as solid as last season. That’s what won us the tittle.

United and Liverpool have ad much chance as we do, maybe even Chelsea. It will be a real ****ing slog.

We are favorites cause our team didn't change much and the other teams don't look like they have massively improved. United lost casemiro who was important for them last season and need to play more games this year with CL. Chelsea finished 10th and their defence is trash and they sold cucurella. Liverpool haven't done much. City losing rodri.

That said I can see us struggling in many games because we have failed to improve the attack in the way most fans wanted. Unless Bruno is that good that he takes us up a level and Tzolis is an instant hit but I doubt it.

Its 77m and hes on 300k a week. I dont think hes worth it.

Its 215k pounds as base and rest is performance bonus.
So he can be had as his injury is not as serious , even lower than Yildiz.

That takes us up to a spend of 200m in this window. We still have to sell Vieira and Jesus as well.

It’s by far the most expensive option for us. Do you realise how expensive it’s to pay a release clause at once.

We defend well as a team and we have other players that can do a good job at CB allthough they are a step down. It's a bit akward that most of them are left sided though. And our midfield should be the best in the league by some margin.

I just don't see any of the other teams being consistently good either if we underperform a bit.

We are if Saka is fit, imo.

Haven't retained the league in forever (1930s?), but everyone's defense is kind of iffy as far as the top teams go.

Attack will be the difference, which is a pickle for us in and of itself.

Konza is a solid PL CB. League is way too weak.

Barcola is much more of a floor raiser, at least right now.

But we've painted ourselves into this corner, the only way out is going to be overpaying for a guy like him.

MLS stories smell suspiciously like bullcrap to me. Note how 4-5 months ago it was all - 'arsenal happy to sell MLS as he can't get games at LB ahead of Cala & Hincapie'. Then it all went quiet, now its suddenly 'Arsenal may consider selling MLS as now they have 3 top players who can play in a double pivot'.

Its not the club, and I doubt it is his agent, as it would be too transparent and create bad blood as obvious mischief making. Its some intermediary trying to stir up some business, and jounos trying to exploit the post Vini gloom.

Don't get drawn in...makes no sense at all from the club's persepctive unless big big bucks, and on that basis almost anyone who isn't a nailed on key player is in the same position.

Quite apart from the fact that we are short club home-grown players for UEFA competition rules already.

I think the pursuit of Vini was probably equally about commercial value and sporting value. Barcola doesn't bring the commercial boom that Vini would have so the club are less willing to push the boat out for a player who might develop into a similar level of producer but who doesn't bring the added revenue and status. It's understandable but also a little disappointing because you do sometimes just have to push the boat out like with Rice.
