The same with Sterling, why they should us join?
It was reported at the time that Sterling was opening to joining if included in the deal, but Guardiola said no. Why would Martial refuse to join the club? He'd first choice in a WC year, probably get a pay rise, living in London, strong French connections at Arsenal etc.

Don't let the recent malaise around the club fool you, this is still a prestigious club. As if Anthony ****ing Martial is too big to join.

With Alexis there, Martial would have a higher chance of making the World Cup squad (and first 11) here. That's also a factor.
Yeah, he would have a chance to find good connection with France main striker Oli G:drool:

I bet Dechamps would take this into account naming the WC squad. Important factor.

This all hinges on how desperate United are to keep Alexis from joining City. He's nailed on to join them as a free agent and there aren't many alternatives of similar quality available this summer if Griezmann goes to Barcelona.

So let me get this straight, people on here would like Martial (Sanchez + 30M) but would be opposed to a proven player in Aubameyang at 60M...

There’s nothing as exciting as potential for transfer muppets. Genuine ****** on here sometimes.

Mane? average
Mahrez? average
Aubameyang? pace-merchant

Lemar, Malcom and Martial? Let’s get the lube out.

I don't think Martial is too big to join. But at the moment we are not close to the Top 4, Martial is playing for the biggest club in England (most trophies). He will surely have a good wage already, don't think he would get a huge pay rise.

Strong french connections? We have Lacazette and they have Pogba, don't think players like Kos and Giroud are his close friends for French.

Only the playtime could be a reason. He played 20 games in the PL (1800 minutes), but only 900 minutes from these games and there will be a new competitor with Sanchez.

For real, at the moment there aren't many Pro Arguments for Arsenal. We should try to find a "new" Martial at smaller clubs, players like Malcom or Lemar..

Yep, people seem to forget sometimes you have to go down to go up, we may lose a few big players, but we can rebuild. Martial may see this and want to be part of a project, he's still got loads of levels in him and may want to be a star at this club. People seem to think we'll stay at this level for years.

We already have gone down. If we don't go up soon we'll never recover.

Martial has completed 90 minutes 3 times this season. IF we sell Alexis to them and we don't take a player in return, Martial will be benched indefinitely and will be behind Alexis, Lindgard and Rashford. It may be even worse when Özil goes there in the summer.

Move to Arsenal and he maintains his wage if not a higher one, he gets 90 minutes every match. I would take a straight swap for Martial as it means we can let Giroud and Welbeck go.

Martial - Lacazette - Malcolm

All fantasy though.

Martial is only making £65,000 per week. Arsenal could certainly offer him a significant raise. And he's out of contract with United at the end of next season. So I suppose that could be incentive for United to go ahead and move him. If he's stuck behind Alexis (and everyone else) they'll probably be selling him in the summer anyway with just one year left on his deal. So you never know.

So Who is Martial behind at United? Haven’t wayched United at all this season.

Alexis (if he signs)
Lingard?

Martial currently often rotates with Rashford on the left, Lingard has made CAM his home as of late.

You're looking at it from the point of view of "why would he leave United for Arsenal", but if United tell him he's no longer wanted and included in the Alexis deal, those are the reasons why a move could still appeal to him.

He had 18 months left on his deal + 1 year option from the club so unless they inserted an incremental wage increase into the contract, we could definitely offer him a pay rise.

I just mean in terms of the manager and captain both being French.

Exactly. One of the main reasons leave any club is for greater opportunities. He'd be guaranteed starter here, that's huge in a WC year when you play for a country like France that has an unbelievable set of forwards.
