Arsenal Coaches Thread

I like bringing in young professional coaches rather than retired players, as there is much less likely to be a clash of egos

let's see what Arteta can achieve when he has a clear field of command

What the hell? How does that work?

He made contact with someone at Atletico and offered his services:

Then he started following on Twitter "all the coaches who on their profile showed that they were at Atlético or Real Madrid." The vast majority did not answer. "Until one of them did," he recalls. "If you need someone to lay the cones for you, here I am," I replied. That's how he came to Atlético.

Not complicated really.

I wonder if this completely rounds out Mikel's coaching staff or if we'll see new additions. Bergkamp for example was rumoured to join but I assume he would have done so already if that was the case.

Sometimes I feel like Mikel kept Ljungberg at a distance because he was intimidated by his superior Arsenal history and his former position as caretaker manager. I never quite believed that Mikel told Ljungberg to watch the game from the stands so Ljungberg could provide analysis of the game.
Like Mikel bro... we have cameras.

Have you ever seen a game at a stadium? You are able to notice things that you dont really notice on the tv. Do you think that scouts watch players on BT?

You clung onto a minor portion of my point... but sure I'll bite. I'm pretty sure clubs have access to higher detailed recordings of games than the average consumer has access to. When a club is doing video analysis they have access to essentially everything that happens on the pitch.

Its still different to see something irl. But its not unusual to use this practice. Its not uncommon in Portugal for example.

imagine having a go at the club giving an opportunity to a 24 year old coach when our manager isn't much older than that

Don't care how young they are if they are good enough its fair cop. We have an already brilliant coaching team surrounding younger coaches coming in so all good for me.

Molina's the sport scientist, Cuesta was coaching Atleti kids and Juve kids so I'd assume he's coming to be Arteta's assistant coach in whatever capacity 24 year olds can be assistant coaches. This is so shambolic, surely we can do better

Wish people would stop labelling everything the club do shambolic. You have no idea what you're talking about

I love his coaching choices so far
Inaka as GK coach has been amazing for us, the improvement in Martinez alone is proof of that
then you look at his new recruit
Carlos Cuesta is the young wandering coach, dude has been travelling all over europe learning from some of the best coaches in the world
I try to learn from everyone: Guardiola, Mourinho, Diego Martínez (Granada), Emery, Klopp … But also from Second B or Third coaches.
Then comes the coach I'm most excited about Andreas Georgson, hes a specialist coach and will work on trying to stop us leaking goal in setpieces and scoring a few ourselves.
Miguel Molina used to work on Atletico Madrid and holds a degree in Sport and Exercise Science from the Polytechnic University of Madrid.
“From my experiences as a coach at Atlético de Madrid and from conversations with coaches at other academies (Villareal, Celta de Vigo, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Ajax, Bayern Munich, PSG, Schalke etc), I have arrived at the conclusion that the most important thing we do is develop an understanding of the footballer as a human being, how he relates with others in different contexts,” he said.
He looks like the coach that will work with players individually and get them in the right frame of mind.

I'm loving the team hes building around him and the new diverse ppl hes bringing to Arsenal. Long may it continue

Ljunbergs an invincible but Arteta was our captain for 3-4 seasons; personally rated aspects of his leadership higher than Vieras

I'm definitely speculating here, but I'd imagine that Mikel as a new manager wanted his era to be distinctly different to the Emery (and brief) Ljungberg era. I think Mikel kept Ljungberg at arms length because he didn't want to foster an impression that the previous regimes had anything to do with his own managerial style or choices.

Arteta was a very important leader for us, I agree. Idk if I'd say he was better than Viera though. What do you rate in Arteta that Viera doesn't have?

Arteta as a player once got the team to agree to train overtime. We were doing poorly and were 12 points behind Sp**s. We then beat Sp**s, went on an incredible run to finish above them and finished in the top 4.

Not saying I agree with the original statement, but he was a great captain/vice-captain (with Mertesacker - current head of the academy, beside him).

Arteta played in an Arsenal team with lower standards and expectations than Viera tbf.
