The Mustafi part hurt.

#whysmandoingthis

Remember that none of the other top 6 apart from Sp**s took a chance on Alderweireld (who hadnt even walked into the So’ton side the year before), and none were ready to chance it with van Dijk (who has been at Celtic).

And it wasn’t just us that over spent for the unexceptional: Man Utd also spent money on defenders in those years that haven’t been as good at the other two have turned out. Bailly and Lindelof both cost more than Mustafi.

And at that time Liverpool were trying out even cheaper players like Matip and Klavan who have also flopped.

And Man City spent far higher than anyone else.

Interesting read, a few things popped out although a few of them were pretty obvious already.

The £120m we received in transfer fees is an all time Premiership record when we (I include myself) as fans have this idea that we let our assets run down their contracts and leave for free!

Our commercial deals have been poor, 13th highest in Europe, a staggering £170 behind Man Utd. Thankfully they are going to get a significant boost this summer.

Sp**s being in the Champions League while we languish in the Europa is really helping them close the gap financially.

The wage bill needs to be reduced.

That £120m included Gibbs, Szceszney, Gabriel, Coquelin, Chamberlain, Giroud and Walcott. Not that great when you look at it and consider the fees players go for these days.

Can't believe how **** the commercial deals are and have been since moving to the Emirates and now there's also a penalty for not making CL.

Look at it this way. In the new deals there’s probably a bonus for making CL ;)

Wages off the book next year:

Lichtsteiner (35k£), Cech (100k£), Ramsey (110k£), Welbeck (70k£), Jenkinson (45k£) and maybe Monreal (65k£) as contract expires.

Players very likely to be sold or gone next year
Ospina (40k£), Özil (350k£) and Elneny (55k£)

Likely to be sold
Mkhi (180k£)

Total = 870k£ / week to 1.05m£ (if Mkhi leaves) => potential 45m£ to 55m£ off the books next year on wages alone!

If we don't see the proper investment in the summer, then this management/board can f*ck off!

Reading that it doesn't seem too bad, just need to get back in the Cl in the near future(preferably this season).
