We're gonna have over 100m losses for this year, surely? I'm no money man, but I don't quite get how you can spend big money on players if you've lost over 100m and you've had no gate receipts for a year. Where's the money supposed to come from.

If this carries on for some years it will be the end of even the figment of FFP. While tv money has created an elite of leagues and an elite of clubs, it has at the same time given some clubs an opportunity to compete - Leicester would never have won the league without tv money.

The word is tv money will go down - like everything these days "because coronavirus" - and, if so, that leaves only clubs owned by money and prepared to put money into buying/paying players as having extra-football resources to make the difference. Expect Man City to win 10 leagues on the trot, the premier league to become the Scottish premiership and 2 or 3 clubs to battle for the CL every year. Even the much-loved Barcelona (sic) will move into the second tier of teams, possibles rather thsn probables.

Think the rich Srivaddhanaprabha family had a bit to do with it. Unlike the Kroenkes they've been prepared to put their hands in their pockets. Leicester are now in the top 8 for squad cost.

They even pay for Buddhist monks to bless the pitch and players. You think the record breaking number penalties they got in 15/16 was luck . . . think again. 😏

Well it's only natural to fall from grace if you don't react quickly enough at an age where industrial football met globalism. Institutional brand success of decades past would only last for so long.

It's not too late to change our fortunes but the window is surely closing quite quickly.

Wouldn't hurt with an owner that wanted to invest in the club, but I guess it will be "Home, Home on the Range" for the foreseeable future....

We're ****ed until we have genuine success again and/or a new owner.

Probably need the latter for the former to happen tbh.

Makes the whole “slow rebuild” argument a convenient scapegoat.

Once we started bottoming out our revenue streams became smaller and smaller leaving us less money each year but a wage bill consistent with a top four team.

Every year we’re not in the top four the bleaker it gets. Really have to hope Arteta manages to get us CL football this year or next.

Our wage bill should be manageable now, only Aubameyang on £200k+ surely?

Get rid of rubbish like Bellerin and Lacazette in the summer and few players will be on £100k+.

Partey’s on 250k apparently but we’ve got 8 players between 100k and 200k including Xhaka, Bellerin, Luiz, Sead then Lacazette and Willian north of 180k.

Lot of lesser players are overpaid as well relatively. Runar is on 40k, Cedric is on 75k and Elneny and Chambers on 50k

That what happened when you mess around for like 8 years giving big contracts sign wrong players not selling players and always lose them by free if this not fixed the drop off will continue. The club should start work smartly stop thinking because we are 3rd most successful team in England mean we better than everyone else

Player sales will be important to help with the transfer kitty, but easier said than done. Clubs will play hardball and won’t readily agree to decent fees early in the window. Hopefully some rumours such as Bellerin to Barca and Laca to Monaco are evidence of the club doing some groundwork in the background.

Arteta’s contract runs to 2023, so just for information, with assumption coaching team wages are the same as Emery’s, it would be roughly 11m to sack Arteta this summer if so desired by the board. (Emery was on 6m per year, Arteta on 5m per year). In my opinion then this amount is not a big impediment.
