I don’t think we need a loophole. These were existing corporate loans that the Kroenkes consolidated and took on as zero finance.

I assume we’d just need to go out and raise corporate debt to repurchase the loans from KSE - will cost us ~ 10m-20m a year in interest. It’s not ideal obviously but also hardly fatal.
You're right, the author is probably just being more salacious than necessary. Chelsea's situation could be a bit more interesting as I'm not sure if their loan is part of the takeover agreement and the special circumstances around the sale.

It’s Everton that’s fkd, they have 400 mil in shareholder debt and ironically they sided with city in this case and gave evidence to support them so they’ve really shot themselves in the foot 😂 😂 😂

Lol serves them right then. They'll have the best stadium in the Championship in a year or two.

They are clearly horrible cheaters, tbh...Premier League is too scummy to actually do anything about it though.

Everything City achieve is clearly tainted though.

By the way I should add the obvious solution to this debt problem is for KSE to buy the stadium from the club like Chelsea. Not sure what it’s worth exactly but I’m sure it’s a heck of a lot more than £250m.

Yeah you just refinance it I think. Isn't an issue at all.

Hilarious that gimps like lee gunner are using this to tweet about without having looked into it properly.

Just getting idiots who quote Citys statement and think it's positive hahaha.

No need. Just transfer it into equity and *poof* the problem is gone

The PL are the ones accusing them??

This makes me hate City even more.

You bent the rules, you've been called out, now you're using money and fancy lawyers to wriggle out of it and also **** on other clubs? Are you serious? They can go **** themselves and those dumb fans online who don't know their arse from their elbow.

So the only change is interest rates which will not be so favorable anymore, but according to fair market value?
What is the interest rate for these KSE loans?

As I understand it, the changes on treatment to shareholder loans will not be applied retrospectively - only new shareholder loans will fall into the scope of APT rules.

Although a part of me wishes they were… hear me out…

I’m 90% sure Man City will bring a whole new case against the PL about how it’s unfair that they get caught under a bunch of retrospectively applied APT rules but not clubs benefiting from shareholder loans. We can afford to pay the interest, I’d much rather not give City lawyers any more ammo.

The only caveat if they were to bring that argument is that loans / bonds / commercial paper whatever are legally binding agreements themselves. If you set a precedent that they can be ripped up I think that opens up a wormhole through the space time continuum.

Idk anyway let’s see. What a time to be alive hey? I’ll be telling my grandkids about how I lived through the blow by blow of the APT saga someday

Loans will just be converted in to more shares. No big deal. We are well run, we need better commercial deals imo.

We are getting there, slowly but surely. It's something the club finally realised they have to put proper focus on, can't believe it's taken them so long to realise, probably took Sp**s being ahead of us in terms of commercial revenue for them to sit up and take notice.

100K stadium would be awesome. Might be possible to have a reasonable chance of accessing individual games for non-London fans and local fans might not have to wait 15 years and enough people die to get a season ticket. Maybe the Ashburton army could be allocated more than 500 tickets.

We would easily sell out 100K for premier league and CL games in the current Arteta era at least. Just don't hire Southgate in the future. Not only need to expand transport, but the size/number of pubs in the local area are going to have expand dramatically. Difficult to get inside on game day as it is.
I certainly wouldn’t be complaining as someone who lives 20m from the stadium, I could benefit from the investment in better transport in the area.
