Arsenal myths

With Bertie Mee, yeah, think he had a interview where he says; if winning the double is boring that's the way it's going to stay.

Of course, he never won anything again.

Probably been said and if it ain't you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Arsenal were boring....ever since I've been going 76/77 season, we've played with raiding full backs, wingers that could cross or dribble, we've had centre mids that were skillful and centre forwards that score with both feet and their head and classy keepers and if I remember correctly in 90/91 we scored nearly a hundred goals in all comps.

Just saying.

The idea that George Graham's Arsenal was boring has been massively over-played. They were quite exciting to watch quite often.

Denying a fact doesn't make it true. Like the myth that Arsène only made it big with Graham's defence. That's been well debunked on a number of gooner sites.

Well, they were a lot more boring when Tony Woodcock was the only player who actually moved.

Well nobody ever said that anyway. You've created a strawman. What they said was Arsène inherited Graham's back five and it was that back which gave him the platform to be successful straight away. Unless of course you're going to deny they existed, which would be fun.

I think the boring tag came from the 70/71 side as they won a lot of games one nil.

The 'One nil to the Arsenal" thing goes way back to the 1930's when George Allison, the manager at the time, starred in the film 'The Arsenal Stadium Mystery' with the line "It's one-nil to the Arsenal. That's the way we like it."

It was the central midfield that Wenger built which gave us the platform to succeed straight away.
