Arsenal Pre-Season 2024

Dokaka

Gunner come out of the closet any day now…

Rosiak and Gower looked like potential future PL players from the little I've seen of them. Rosiak looked very comfortable going forward and Gower had some swagger to his game, reminded me a bit of Bowen before his goal scoring really clicked. Very small sample size though so might've just caught them on a good day.

Don't know if @MutableEarth agrees. They're levels below Nwaneri and MLS but those guys also looked like future stars and not just capable PL players.

Rosiak is very interesting for me. Two footed, very technical. Kinda like a slightly more defensive Rosicky in the way he plays with this very busy style. Can play CM, DM and both full back slots. Closely resembles Zinchenko in terms of the way he plays his RB role, but perhaps less emotional. One special attribute Rosiak does have that is (annoyingly) a rather unique trait at Arsenal is that he's a set-piece specialist, particularly direct free kicks. He's very good at them, so good that he even takes them with his weak foot. Being a squad player here doesn't seem out of the question for him.

Gower I have a lot of respect for and his mentality from the doc I watched. Seemed personally offended that Nwaneri (of all people) was ahead of him and even told Jack to his face that he was playing favourites . He's a very solid all-rounder and seems like a big character on the field, the kind of player I could see Arteta liking because he leaves it all out there and does a lot of stuff well. Plays a bunch of positions to a decent standard. I agree, he'll definitely be a PL player IMO. Scores from midfield a fair bunch too.

Do bench players in tournaments still get time off before returning to their parent clubs? Like for Raya and/or Ramsdale for instance.

Yes, it's a requirement; even though Raya didn't play he was still working (i.e., training etc.) so needs the time off even just to unplug mentally.

Another quick one on Rosiak:

Arteta seems to be strengthening our build-up from the back with some of the signings he's made and I can see the same in the youth players he's bringing on the tour. Ayden Heaven is a passer/dribbler from deep, so is Lewis-Skelly and they both started in the backline yesterday. Both players capable of accelerating play and they'd be dangerous players even in defence against a sturdy mid-block. Rosiak fits that criteria because of his excellent passing with either foot. He's got this ability to hit a really deep cross like Trent that could be very useful with the right forward. I could see a Martinelli eating off a deep cross.

The thing that made me think of this was a goal vs Newcastle in the Youth Cup a couple of seasons ago. Rosiak played RB, with Lewis-Skelly in midfield (the infamous game IMO when Lewis-Skelly turned into a Vieira regen and blew my mind) and Cozier-Duberry scoring the goal. Watch Rosiak right at the beginning.

That little pass with his weak foot to take 2 guys out of the game and find Lewis-Skelly with space to run into is the kind of thing that we'll need against teams that look to squeeze space and block passing channels.

The only clips of Ayden Heaven that have been put into a comp are these ones but you get a little idea of what he can do when he actually has the ball:

Said it before, but always needs repeating...Arsenal charging fans money to watch fu3king friendly matches on the website is an absolute disgrace.

Terrible stuff really.

It'll pay about 2 hours of Nelsons wages in total

Arsenal Quotes

There is no chance of Sol ever leaving for Arsenal. He is a Spurs fan and there is not a hope in hell of him playing in an Arsenal shirt.
