Arsenal pride and Wenger prejudice

It has become urgent for Arsenal to sign a defender or two and a more reliable goal keeper to replace Lehmann or at least be number two to him , this same problem has been persisting for the last two seasons and the Gunners missed a lot of pride and trophies due to it , yet Wenger arrogantly is in denial of that, believing that he is a miracle creator , and can achieve whatever he wants whenever he wants however he wants. The cash for Arsenal should not be the obstacle , certainly they are in a better financial position than Newcastle , Sp**s or Midllesborough , who are spending heavily; if the case is so they can make some money from the selling or loaning some of the unwanted or failed players , like particularly Cygan , Adebayor, Almunia , or Song Bellong ; or even sacrifice a better players to secure the signing of more needed ones in the needed positions like Reyes or Gilberto .
Several years ago Ken Friar , the then secretary of the club , told me that they were having a very prommissing youth development programme , that would bear fruit within some years , so far there has no fruit yet , or to be more accurate , Wenger threw them away, for most of the promising home grown youths, particularly the British ones, who are not popular to Wenger at all, were not given the opportunity in the first team , on the contrary they were sent on loans successively as a prelude to getting rid of them ; simply in ten years only Ashly cole made it to the first team , while Senderos and Djourou , were given the chance due to the injuries of the senior players or the unreliability of others like Cygan , so in his reign Wenger signed players who were obsolete if not a failure in their original clubs, because they were non British or to satisfy his arrogance, simply a quick look at the transfer records , one would find names unheard of or even unpronounceable, except in the faraway places they came from, who did not dare to dream to be among the ground staff at Arsenal , let alone to play for them , and they failed despite being given all the support and opportunities at the expense of the home grown talents , so whose responsibility is that , is it the youth coaches , the scouts , or Wenger , certainly the manager as a leader of all those , he should be held as the main responsible , as he always takes the credit for any achievement , then he should bear the blame for any weakness or failure. Every season numerous youngsters leave Arsenal and many of them made it to another premiership clubs, at least some of them could have been kept as substitutes .
Wenger had all summer and the privilege of the world cup finals to watch players of different categories and calibers besides the whole English league, yet all that looks like being insufficient for him to find what he wants, so how and when he will find what he seeks , and how long should the team and the fans sustain humiliation and frustration ?, or he will count again on luck to have a kind draw in the Champions League and a curse to fall on the main contender at the night of the last and crucial game ?.

Firstly, lehmann himself was bought as a stopgap I reckon wasn't he for the post seaman era while Wenger searched out a decent young goalie ? Who he then went on to miss out on, like that dude now at the spuds.

I can't believe you're calling Adebayor a failing as well, that's a bit left field, they guy's only just signed for us really !!

Getting rid of Gilberto to replace him ?! Are you crazy ?! Gilberto is not a problem at all, the man does all the dirty bits of the game {tackling, tracking back etc} that the flair players won't do, he is an essential first team member.

The reason all the foreign players get a chance is because they are good enough, people seem to think that an English kid just has a right to play or a right to get a chance, he doesn't. If he's good enough, he'll play, the one's Wenger had weren't good enough and he got rid of them. Where are Hughes, Pennant, Bentley etcetc now ? They aren't setting the world on fire with their supposéd talent now are they. That's why they are no longer at The Arsenal, they simply aren't good enough. There is a big difference in playing for a Premiership club {as you cite} and playing for The Arsenal, Wwenger let them go because they wern't up to his and Arsenal's standards but, yes, that might be good enough for a blackburn or liverpoo, that's their call.

I don't call Real Madrid and Juventus a lucky draw in the CL by any stretch of the imagination.

I do agree though that he had the entire summer to find and buy someone and he has failed even though he knows he needs someone, should we fail this season, after sustaining a torrid season last season that was ignored as a transition, then yes, at the end of the season, then you can question Wenge, but not two games in to the season, we may have been **** so far but the season's just started, you can't cruxify the guy yet !!

this is not the place for this sort of thread - this can just as easily go in Arsenal Talk.

This section is for articles that feature a little more originality - perhaps your experience of a day at the Arsenal, or something to do with the club's history, or a piece of interesting trivia you've discovered and researched.
