Imagine thinking the sport is going to change once the money comes flowing back to the game :lol:

Why so serieuse?
All clubs will be in trouble. I think we'll start seeing much more of trade deals, swaps a la basketball.

I've heard Ornstein has been less good since joining The Athletic, is he still good for Arsenal related stuff?
He’s just as good.

Difference is that at the BBC he didn’t need to report anything until it was 100%. At the Atheletic he needs to churn out a weekly column and podcast, so obviously he has to report things which are less solid (although he always makes that clear).

See the little children on this forum are having a meltdown over nothing again.

How is it news to them that Arsenal don’t have a sugar daddy ffs? It’s nothing to do with ambition, unless you think that Raul should have created a profile for the club on seekingarrangement.com.

Guarantee the same posters who are crying now about giving up on the club would have exactly the same reaction if Arsenal ever did actually get purchased by an Abromovic type, “We’ve lost our values”, “Wenger would never have accepted this club financial doping”, “We’re just like City and Chelsea now, what’s the point” etc etc. So tedious.

Looks like lockdown is bringing out even more negativity from some, didnt think it was possible.

League is very weak
This is surely outdated, the players are giving up 12.5% of their wages!
This is what Özil and the others were asking, will the owner invest, will the cash go towards squad improvement etc. Where did the 12.5 figure generate from? Why is it over a year etc.

The gaslighting of Arsenal fans with respect to cash reserves is so tedious. I really like Ornstein but the pre-COVID reality was that Arsenal had significant cash reserves even accounting for the 35m debt service requirement. Anyway, it's all water under the bridge now.

There's absolutely nothing to be excited about. It's actually so predictable too, crappy window which gets overhyped and then we struggle massively. Probably Arteta is the one who takes the fall. Bring in new manager and the cycle repeats.

We're absolutely finished as a top club. Completely finished. There's no way back too many teams better run, better recruitment, more ambition, we've been lagging for so long and it's all catching up on us. God help us if Auba leaves, because we're not coming close to replacing him and when there's no star striker to bail us out things could get ugly. Thank **** I won't be watching tho.
Weird timing for this kind of rant, no? Most clubs will be feeling the same wrath.

Unless you're referring to the likes of NUFC striking lucky? Not worried about them.

Most of my rants are weirdly timed in fairness.

Also it's not just the current situation, just in general over the past number of years it feels as tho the club has lacked ambition. Now it seems like we're in for another summer of penny pinching with our star player likely to leave soon, hard to be too excited.

Of course, it absolutely sucks. I just wish we could have a different ****ing owner.

However despite that and the depressing pandemic, I'm looking forward to hopefully seeing real progress under Arteta, and "getting our Arsenal back".

I actually miss Arsenal now.

People in here throwing their toys out of their prams because they can’t quite seem to grasp that this pandemic represents a fundamental change for football. Anyone sitting here and thinking clubs (yes, even those with oligarch backing) will spend huge amounts need to pull their heads out their backside. Won’t be happening in this climate.
Oh yes they will. In any climate. Football is a business and if you want to be near the top now you have to spend lots of money. It's that simple.

Spending lots of money is no guarantee you'll win the big prizes but not spending it guarantees you won't. We will be a self-financing club with a budget halfway down the table and an average position halfway down the table.

If we’re ****ed financially so will every other club that’s not bankrolled by an oligarch. They will all have to adjust accordingly, as will most clubs around Europe. Woodward is already talking about not being able to spend loads in the summer. There’s stories of Barca having to get creative to sign players.

Sp**s, Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal, none of their owners are going to start throwing money at the clubs when they are losing potentially hundreds of millions. Sp**s are paying for a stadium that relies on them turning a profit. They’ll be ****ed. Liverpool have delayed their Anfield redevelopment because of the uncertainty around the financial state of football (among other things Covid-19 related).
We are still paying for our stadium and rely on gate receipts. No other Pl club is in that position. That's why the focus is on finish the season. If the season doesnt finish and broadcasters ask for money back other teams are ****ed.

Arsenal match day income - £96m
Chelsea match day income - £67m
Liverpool match day income - £84m
Man Utd match day income - £111m
Tottenham match day income - £82m

All of those clubs will struggle without that much revenue. It’s almost 20% (slightly more for us) of total revenue for each club. It’s the same story for the majority of the bigger clubs in Europe.

Great to see somebody understanding how football actually works. It's a slippery slope when you're out of the CL, you're owner is a non spender and yet more clubs are being taken over by oil money.
