Arsenal Women F.C.

Lack of investment hurting the women's team? Montemurro has looked a bit clueless as well.

Wouldn't blame Montemurro today. Against Chelsea we were poor, but not today. We had all control over them in the first half, had good chances.

Then they had a free kick (wasn't even one i think) and they scored out of this. Missed the goal in the second half. Then again we had chances to make it 2:2 and missed them. Shouldn't have lost it.

Our bench was so poor today. We need more options. At least we signed Foord to have a new offensive option. But defensively we only have only one natural fullback with Maier. Evans and McCabe player there often, who are wingers normaly .. :D

Not a good performance, but at least 3 points. Miedema finally scored again, two times today.
City with 39 points (+30), Chelsea with 38 points (one game less) and Arsenal with 36 points (+27).

6 games left, title is unrealistic. But City is still playing against Chelsea, so we should hope that City will drop points and we can reach the CL at least.

Sad for the girls but they're a pretty resolute bunch. Same crappy scoreline as the boys. Bye bye February.

Lol. I mean, she is already 31, but a huge PR and quality boost for Tottenham.

And: City signed Alex Greenwood. Former United Captain and Left Back for England.

We signed Wubben-Moy today. She was in the Arsenal Youth already and left England for USA to study and play football there.

Lauren James (ENG, 19 – Manchester United)

Lauren JamesVisionhaus
The flair-blessed forward – who Arsenal had training with their boys at U13 level and their senior women at 15 before awarding her a debut a year later – was one of the players recruited when Manchester United revived their women's team in 2018. She helped them to the second-tier title in their first season and then scored United's maiden top-flight goal before proceeding to inspire their surprise title push this term.

Having ascended the England youth ranks, she was invited to a senior training camp in November. If she emulates her sibling Reece James of Chelsea in being capped, they will be the first brother and sister to represent England at senior level.

Interesting. Maybe time to bring her back home! @MutableEarth had you heard this story before about Lauren James sister of Reece James at Chelsea, that she played with our boys at 13?

There is also a player from Iceland who is Arsenal fan, Wolfsburg snapped her up unfortunately.

Sveindís Jane Jónsdóttir (ISL – 19, Kristianstad on loan from Wolfsburg)

Sveindís Jane JónsdóttirKSI
Hugely promising forward Jónsdóttir was playing in Iceland's second tier for Keflavík aged 14, and in her first full season of 2016 she scored 27 goals in 19 games. By 2019 they were in the top division, albeit she had moved to Breidablik – finishing as both the league's joint-top scorer and player of the year as they clinched the championship.

That form secured her a senior Iceland debut against Latvia in September; naturally she scored within eight minutes and eventually got two. A few days later her long throw set up a goal in a 1-1 draw with Sweden that proved crucial in rubber-stamping a Women's EURO 2022 slot. And on 28 December she was signed by Wolfsburg on a deal until 2024, before being loaned for 12 months to Sweden's Kristianstad, a 2021/22 UEFA Women's Champions League contender.
