You don’t get a short term loan deal attacking midfielder that solves our creativity problems. Nobody is that committed to loan deals, it doesn’t happen.
What they’re planning is not going to work. I can see it coming. We need a star player, or someone who will become that for us.

He seems pretty well rounded in terms of technical ability, height, agility and overall game. He is at a very decent age with a lot of room to grow. We don't have a player like that and if he hits top form he'll be out of our league so before that happens we should get to him. The other thing is Auba is likely to be declining, Laca is on his way out, Nketiah is not it and we don't really have any hope of getting a really well rounded striker anytime soon. Also the market is absolutely dreadful in terms of strikers. Isak looks pretty much like the only player with possibly becoming a line leading striker for us with a lot of potential to work around.

Yeah well I think I agree with most of that but he’s less ready to play than Nketiah imo so just not sure we can afford to spend money on a more long term project...

Brentford do build a very good strikers but they'll probably ask for 30m like Watkins.

That's the worry. He seems like a decent bet to be a rotational striker but we would be over paying if we go higher than 15m imo.

Not on the level of Watkins. He’s a 24 year old career journeyman who’s having a decent year.

Watkins was younger and was an absolute machine last year who put the work in for the team. Fair price is max around 20M.

Really like him as a budget Calvert-Lewin as he’s great in the air and holding up play. He’ll probably struggle to score goals at this level but if you have wingers who cut in and attack the box he’d be a nightmare to deal with.

Had a look at Calhanoglu. He looks utter trash still. Grealish, Buendia, Aouar and Milinkovic Savic are our only hope.

Yeah but if SMS came here he'd be kind of an attacking central midfielder. Basically, the idea is to have Buendia starting from the right side as the connecting playmaker while SMS is the attacking number 8 with Partey playing between them.

Not really. It was a difficult transfer, but it was always between him staying at Atlético or moving here, we were the only club seriously linked. Price range was around 40-50 mil also.

SMS has already been linked to the likes of Real and PSG, and valued by Lazio around 90 mil.

Yeah at this point it would be a backwards move for SMS to Arsenal. We have to stick to Buendia and a more defensive or offensive mid along with a versatile back up player able to cover for all three.

Atletico negotiated nothing. We triggered his clause, filed paperwork with the league, and thats it. Very fast.

Think we're still suffering from the 19/20 summer window. Tierney and Martinelli were good buys in that window, but we spent 100m on two players who 18 months later are for one reason or another contributing nothing to our team on the pitch.

One of those deals was 5m a year the other 72M over 5 years. Hence why we did those deals. Shouldn't do much.
