Perhaps a stupid question: is Gabriel being forced into quarantine, which is why we haven't been able to announce his signing yet with the usual fanfare?

I was thinking that but then Chelsea announced signing of Sarr and Silva, both from France so based on that, that theory wouldn't make any sense.

I don't get what Arsenal is doing atm.

I honestly don’t know if I can watch this season if our midfield stays the way it is now. It’s relegation zone quality. And not only that it’s thin (assuming Guendouzi, Torreira and Elnenny are off). I don’t know how anyone in their right mind can look at our midfield and think we can go into the season like this...like others have said it’s been crap for 4 years or so...

Oh yeah we will probably start the season with Xhaka, Saka, Willock, ESR, Willian and maybe even Elneny used in the midfield. But my point has always been id rather use the whole window (5 more weeks) to get in top quality players than sign someone for the sake of it for the start of the season.

With the whole two week quarantine its likely players won't be able to play until after the window anyways.

Especially in the case of Aouar. He has to self isolate for two weeks and if he were to move clubs after that two weeks (isolation ends on the 12th September) he still needs to quarantine a further two weeks (28th September) before he can even consider training with a new club.

People need to remember its a very different window.

Sadly in this market things are currently very slow. But there are a few sales teetering on the edge. Specifically AMN and Torreira.

This window you'll see a domino effect for a lot of teams. For example Aurier to Milan. Doherty to Sp**s and AMN then moving to Wolves.

There are many reasons to be very positive so far. Look at what's happening behind the scenes, we are signing specialist coaches for specific areas, we have a fantastic manager in charge who knows what he's doing and knows whats needed to take us back to the top. Our u23's are getting a huge makeover and we have made two signings already WITH Saliba also coming in.

Yes we need two signings in the midfield, and its clear Arteta's plan is to go for Partey and Aouar. So let's back that idea and hope we can get it done within the next few weeks.

There are almost no positives in the points you just mentioned though.

• Out of the ‘transfer domino’s’ you mentioned, who loses in all of that? We lose the better player with the most potential whilst Sp**s sign a better player than what they currently have.

• Specialist coaches for specific areas are really a bare minimum for any club playing in a decent league.

• The U23’s is a gamble which may or may not pay off. We’re essentially getting guys in who have been deemed not good enough to offer new contracts

• Willian might work for a year, 2 if we’re lucky. was a free agent. Big wages. Old.

• Any Arsenal fan with an ounce of sense will know we’re not signing both Partey & Aouar. Too expensive, we wont be able to shift even half our deadwood. Highly doubt we’ll get Partey, playing poker with a pair of 6’s. We’ll most likely going for a cheaper option at the last minute when we’re already off the pace in the league.

• Arteta may or may not have more control within club structure, nothing is clear yet after the Raul debacle.

Another season is over before it begins, same old Arsenal.
