and, a few months ago when the banks withdrew from the original finance agreement, she sent out a press release saying that the stadium would never be built and that AFC should have listened to whining communists like her in the first place. What happened to that, eh Carmichael? I am going to find out her address and send her a lifesize cardboard cutout of Danny Fizsman.

I've got a better idea; send her in the ****8ing post to Danny Fitzman.

In an A4 envelope.

Wasn't there supposed to be a case in the European court or something to stop the stadium being built? What happened to those people protesting? Sounds a bit dodgy that they just stopped protesting.

Iirc they can't stop us right now, can't remember why but I remember reading that a while back.

Double page feature today, it appears to be a done deal.

- 10million is now available for transfers in January
- The Nike Stadium is apparently the most likely name, giving us £3million a year extra
- Wenger was at the centre of the new design, the pitch is as close to the fans as it is at Highbury, and the tunnel "gives the players a greater sense of confidence and pride when they walk into the ground"
- Gate recepts to go from 28m to 68m
- 50% of the total cost is going towrds community regeneration.
- Final CPO's to be signed this week.
- More Reyes rumours, including a quote from him that Sevile could'nt keep him if a big enough offer came in.

The official name atm is "New Arsenal Stadium at Ashburton Grove", odds are name will be sold, Nike stadium is ok, better then the Walkers of Reebok. It'll probably still be refered to as Ashburton Grove.

thanks for the further reports!

from 28 to 68m increment. that IS worth the risk.

very encouraging stuff. the 10M budget for transfers is also a welcome development.

We will really be well off financially then. And I don't know about others, but I like "Nike Stadium" better than "Ashburton Grove". It just sounds more modern, more recognisable and will no doubt gain us a lot of money. I wouldn't support changing the name of an original stadium (like Highbury, that would be murder) but if it's a new stadium then there's nothing much to lose.

And I think Wenger is really excited about the new stadium. I saw footage of Keegan showing him the new Manchester stadium and he seemed very interested.

This is great news, finally we will have the stadium that we deserve.

Also let's not forget that tickets will be much easier to get.

I think that the Islington hippie lady is a total killjoy.

If she were really a socialist she would see that a great football team gives the working class great pride and community feeling. Arsenal are that team. There is more housing for locals and anyway the area was never 'green and pleasant'.

We will all have to sing louder for her when it's built.
