He’s a cup manager yet has produced those runs every single season for us in the league becoming our most successful premier league manager (by miles). Ok.

I’m sure you were delighted when he left. And fair enough. You’re kinda talking **** now though.
He's been a manager for more than 2 decades and he has won ONE league title, and that was with PSG (in his second season) where it is basically a disgrace if you don't win it.

If he was a better manager who challenged for and won leagues, he would've got better jobs. However, he has won a fair few CUPS.... yet I am the one chatting **** apparently.

It is as if saying Unai Emery is a cup manager can be disputed. He has a great record in cups?

Well yeah.

You’ve said he goes on these weird runs occasionally, despite him going on these runs every season for us. That’s more than occasionally.

You’ve said we could “very easily” lose 5 in a row, despite him never losing more than 3 in a row in his entire time at Villa.

You’ve said he’s just a cup manager despite most of his good form for us coming in the league and him delivering our best league performances in our premier league history.

And you said I was being cocky after Saturday which I haven’t been.

So I’m really struggling to find something you’ve said which wasn’t **** to be honest 😆

I think we have different expectations for our respective clubs. I have said nothing that isn't true, Emery is patchy, always has been and a solid cup manager, he wouldn't win a league if you put him in charge of any club in the PL imo. I have no problem with villa as a club, I just don't rate Emery particularly highly and can speak with experience. Don't be so defensive (or rude).

He has managed Almeria, Seville, Valencia, Villarael and Aston Villa. You dont expect him to win a league with those clubs although he got a lot of 3rd to 5th placed finishes. They have all over achieved in terms of league positions.

Only club he should win with is PSG and he did win a lot of trophies (6 in 2 seasons) with a quadruple in his second season. Think he lost a league to Monaco with Mbappe so thats his only under achievement.

Objectively, a top manager, i dont know how you couldnt rate him given his european record (who else gets Vilarael to a CL semi final and Villa a CL quarterfinal ffs) plus 4 europa league trophies.

Also there is hypocracy about his time at Arsenal. So many defend the very poor first 2 seasons of arteta's reign because he had **** players but still expected far more from Emery with the same players.
The difference was Arteta was backed to remove the troublemakers whilst those same players were backed against Emery. If arteta and emery had swapped their arrival timings, you would see emery here now imo.

I dont know why all the hate to emery, we sacked him and teased him for his english so of course he is going to be motivated to beat us with villa or villarael.

I don't like Unai as well but in the last few seasons among all clubs, he is definitely the 3rd most consistent given all other clubs have sacked their manager
Think he is 4th based on an earlier post, miles off the top 3, but very good given where they were - although they had a car crash of a manager in there before him.

Villa are also yet to play away from home against any side you’d expect to make top 8, with the exception of Anfield where they lost meekly 2-0. I do hope they make top 4.

There is a reason he has only managed those clubs and was sacked quite quickly from the two bigger clubs he has managed. Villa is a good fit for him.

He wasnt sacked from PSG, he left the club at the end of the season with a year left on his contract. He had just won the quadruple i think. Infact only club in his career he was sacked from was Arsenal.

Objectively you cant make a case he is not a top manager, you can dislike the way he plays etc.. And i think the context around how his Arsenal team did is well informed by the results of Wenger and Arteta either side of him.

I only said he was a cup manager. One league title in 20+ years, but 8 or 9 cups shows this. One league title in a one team league doesn’t scream top manager either and If he was up to it he would’ve done it at bigger clubs.

He puts together good runs but also bad runs, which doesn’t do it in the league. Solid manager, can be great in one off games - he managed to turn our game into a cup tie at the weekend, helped by our makeshift back 4, but that’s another conversation.

I mean I’ve literally just showed that basically everything you’ve said isn’t true. You’re not doing particularly well to be honest

He was basically sacked by Valencia despite massively overachieving selling their best players and getting them CL almost every season. They're still paying the price for that decision more than a decade later

Ah ok fair enough i saw his record at valencia and thought there was no way you would get sacked at valencia with that record.
