Aston Villa: The Hateful 8 Game Winless Streak

Emery had a lot of sliding doors moments at Arsenal. If Auba scored that penalty against Sp**s, we finish 4th. If Kolasinac crosses this first time we go 1-0 up in the EL Final and there’s a decent chance we win that as well:

What did he end up doing there? Did the ball end up in row Z?

It's a shame we didn't have the ref you guys had against Bayern

By the way last night was probably our worst performance under Emery. We were utterly ****

We're not in a great run.

Liverpool, Palace and Chelsea our next league games. With Juventus in the Champions League in between them as well

Big test for us and for Emery coming up

No surprise emery 2nd seasons always will be up and down but they conceded 61 goals last season so when they don't score they gonna struggle. Still they in good position but emery have to fix it defensively

Here’s an observation I’ve made:

People keep bringing up how Mikel has it easy because United / Chelsea were ****.

But conveniently forget that if they were playing to their usual levels, there is absolutely no way Emery would have finished in the CL spots.

If anything it can be very easily argued that given the relative points totals, United and Chelsea had no bearing whatsoever on our last 2 finishes. But they would definitely have been competing for top4.

Him not winning the Conference League was a big miss last season, wasted a great chance to end Villa's trophy drought.

Think he's gonna have a bad season really, can see them finishing without Europe to be honest...wondering if the Villa owners will show the patience that Newcastle's ones did when Howe missed out last year?

There’s no way they finish outside the top 8 and I’m sure the owners will stick with him. He’s objectively done really well, and the fans adore him. It would be an absolute travesty if he was let go.

If anything, it’s Emery that’s showing patience sticking around in Birmingham, not the other way around.

Emery was disaster defensively with us even in his 1st season that the only reason why he'll never succeed at big clubs

We're going through a bad spell for sure. I said a few weeks ago these 4 league games (Sp**s, Liverpool, Palace, Chelsea) would tell us a lot about where we were at the moment, and we've lost 2 and drawn 1 so far. And we'll almost certainly lose next week. There's a very disappointing Champions League game in there too

Most of our issues are around the defence. We've never been great defensively under Emery, that's not really his game, but this season the constant flux around the defence has hurt us. We play a different back 4 nearly every game and it's causing us lots of issues. Right back is the main problem. Cash isn't that great and gets injured a lot, and we don't have a (good) second choice there. So we're constantly having to move Konsa to right back and put a different centreback in. Or play players like Bogarde or Nedelkovic who simply aren't ready

Our first choice, imo, is Digne Pau Konsa and Cash. And they've only played together 3 times this season (and we won 2 and drew 1 of those)

We have been a bit **** going forward as well, but we'd have gotten away with that with a more solid defence

So yeah, it's a tough run at the moment and I already think another top 4 finish is beyond us. But it'll come back, we've got a better squad than last season, it's just not clicking at the moment.

Unai is a genius, he'll fix it

I doubt he'd get the sack if we got relegated to be honest, his stock is that high

How big is the Douglas Luiz loss? You seem to be performing well in the CL though, a very decent chance of automatic qualification.

Top 4 is going to be very competitive this season, Liverpool are on a title run, Chelsea seem regrouped, we should get 80 points at least you'd imagine and City while in a rut are an absolute powerhouse. I do hope you get it at one of the blue teams expense

Some fans will tell you he’s a huge loss. I don’t particularly think he is and I can see why he was the one to be sold.

The unsung hero of that midfield last season was Kamara. As soon as he got injured our form fell away. He did all the hard work in the midfield and allowed Luiz to attack. Tielemans will get that luxury now instead.

Our issues are around the defence not being settled and our wide attackers being really poor at the moment. Ramsey is injured, and Bailey and Rogers are going through a spell of bad form so we’re not scoring the goals we did last season

Arsenal Quotes

I was receiving offers from many other clubs and declining them all, even the most tempting ones. Juventus, Real Madrid, PSG contacted me, Bayern, France, England...I am happy to have been able to say no to more glory, more money, and to have been guided only by the idea of loyally serving the club. I had knitted myself a soul in Red and White.
