So, no middle ground?
Either you are Arteta In or Arteta Out?
Whoever says anything positive or even neutral about Arteta should be crucified?

I said that I don't remember anything significant between Arteta and Saliba.
And since he renewed his contract without fuss, if there was something, it was minor.
Do I qualify to be 100% Arteta shill now?

Arteta outers don’t even exist

There was so much hype around Arteta that I feel like Josh and co felt they absolutely had to back him. They viewed him as the managerial equivalent of Mbappe (ironic as Mikel almost cost us the CB Mbappe) and not giving him the money to spend would have been like not giving an elite talent game time.

If someone kind of experienced came in I could see them expecting him to deliver early.

You make a good point though, the clubs value and brand were tanking big time, maybe they were eventually gonna start spending to protect their investment.
Its also that by the end of Unai's time the wheels had fallen off so badly, they had to go for a long-term option. Also, by all accounts, Arteta literally presented them with a detailed 5 year plan. Allowed them to be as hands off as with Arsène, but with a better structure in place so the manager didn't become an irreplaceable monolith.

I can see Unai replacing either 7Hag or Poch when the time comes. And he'll do terribly under big club pressure. Man is an underdog specialist. Should just stay at Villa.

As for Villa, I'd have higher hopes for them if they wasn't in Europe but eventually with their thin squad and big injuries they will have to decide whether to prioritise the league or the cup.

This is where Arteta and Emery differ, with this villa squad Arteta would play the long game, bin the cup and finish 5th or whatever.

Emery with his affinity with the cup might be tempted to sacrifice the league form for the cup.
Villa have to be favourites to win the conference league right?

I know you guys don't want to hear about Villa on an Arsenal site, but we were sensational tonight.
One of the best Villa performances I can remember. We didn't just beat City, we absolutely dominated them.

They had 2 shots all game. And they were in the 9th minute.

14 wins in a row at home now. I fully expect that to end on the weekend against you guys, but it's been a great run.

Something special is happening at Villa. Really special

The Foundations are being put in place at AVFC. 🟪🟦 A manager in Unai Emery, who has been improving them, taking over from the Steven Gerrard appointment. After the relegation season, have made a Brilliant Comeback to the Premier League.
Currently 3rd in the table? Good so far, after the defeat at Newcastle United, and losing Tyrone Mings at the start of the season.

Happy Premier League GIF by Aston Villa FC

Villa has our ex manager and ex goal keeper. The mismatch in quality between Emery and Arteta is similar to difference between Emi and Raya.

Stop giving Mik credit for Kroenke’s freeing up spending. For years Josh has been asked about this and he said they started to spend once they got Usmanov out as minority owner. When asked why they accelerated transfer spending not a once has he mentioned Arteta.

Dont gaslight. Emery signed players we had to pay to get rid off. Pepe the prime example.

Imagine being so addicted to misery you long for the Emery days.

And no. Emery is not better than Arteta.

Emery infact, didn't sign Pepe or many of the players that came during his tenure actually.

Also, at this moment in time Emery > Arteta. Normally I'd politely type paragraphs beating around the bush, but I don't think that is necessary anymore.

Arteta hasn’t signed players we have to get rid of? Arteta destroyed and never supported Pepe and chased the 2nd best goalie in the league to flex. Guendouzi is a deliciously talented midfielder Unai could work with and Mik couldn’t. A national team coach and Emery can work with EMi but KarenTeta couldn’t

Goundouzi had a **** attitude and was one of the players who needed flushing. He was one of the players at Arsenal who felt he was doing us a Favour for playing for us. As for Pepe, he was ****, end of story. And your not serious about Emi Martinez?

Look at the cultural change form Emery to Arteta. Emery installed no discipline and players got away with being wage thief's.

Martinez forced the move himself because he made it clear to everyone he wasn't willing to compete for the role - he wanted guarantees. He's also not that good tbh.

Guendouzi is not nearly good enough. No discipline to play deep and not skilled enough to play high. Plus a new manager can't put up with a guy publicly having a go at him in training several times. In any line of work.

That is not what @A_G says. He says Emi wanted the shirt opening day. He just won us the cup; any experienced manager hands him the shirt if he is the best goalie you got. But you tell him if he loses it, it’s your call as manager. Instead he tells Emi who is already upset at his treatment that it’s Mik prerogative flexing

They won't make top 4 mark my words. Rubbish side going with the flow for now
I think they are 4th best side in country. Newcastle only competition; and there are more players i like at Villa than Newcastle. I would love Jordan Ramsey, love watkins, like Bailey, like Emi. Hell they would get quite a few spots in a combined 11

Lazio thinks he is good enough they play him he is a consistent CL player. He bossed games as s teenager in Pl under Emery. He is better in his early twenties than slower than dirt Jorgie or Havertz. Trossard is a forward i don’t like him in midfield he would be great in this midfield with ode. Much better than Kai

They really are a tough nut to crack for any team this year. A well-balanced team without a real superstar player, but no real weaknesses either. They can frustrate you, but also have enough weapons to beat you.

It's nice to see a club like Villa in the top 4 instead of the usual suspects or super rich Newcastle. Also nice to see Unai doing well. He's always been a class act and deserves to be successful in the Premier League.

Without Europe they could, but yeah the squad is too thin.

Eth getting fired and Utd getting a manager bounce into CL could absolutely happen for example.

Whose better than them? Newcastle is boring and unconvincing; still not convinced they have enough goals in them. There is a giant drop off after top 3

I liked Martinez ' post-match interview:

"Beating City and Arsenal in one week: controlling City like I've never seen them be controlled before and suffering against Arsenal for 85 minutes and managing to win the game" 🤣
