More than 80 percent of isak goals comes from transitions too, what's the difference?
Better at playing with his back against the net, better overall technique and heading ability. He would adapt more easily to Arteta's pub tactics.

That being said, I would love to see us play more direct football, because watching Gyokeres receive the ball and run at defenders is chaos incarnate. This guy draws so many fouls and yellow cards, leading to dangerous freekicks and he's very intense going forward, thinking only about getting a shot on target.

CARRIED SPORTING LISBON WON LEAGUE TITLE BACK TO BACK WHICH ALL ARSENAL STRIKER RIGHT NOW WILL NEVER EVER CAN DO THAT IF THEY PLAY IN PORTUGUESE LEAGUE

Holy ****, this guy is built like a tank. I think people ****ting on Liga NOS don't actually watch the league to see how physical it is.
There's a lot of tough tackles being made in every game, so for him to score so many goals there without getting injured, or getting intimidated by the thought is impressive.

He's always going 110% for the ball and collides with defenders like it's rugby.

Gyokeres also a very good injury record, missed only 5 career games in total.

Modern football, playing every 3 or 4 days, fit and available we can't keep signing players that break down if we want to challenge on any let alone multiple fronts.

The whole point people are making is he's a player with very good physical ability going up against guys way below his level. No one doubts Gyokere's athletic ability really. People doubt if he can do the same thing in a league where basically everyone is stronger and faster than the guys he's currently going up against.

Again, I think he's worth the gamble because every other option is as expensive and doubtful in terms of success, but it's a fair concern to have.

I personally think it's a non issue since I already mentioned in a previous post that the league he's playing in is already a physical one and before that he played in England, so even if he was in the Championship, you can't say that's a soft league as far as physicality and intensity goes.

He'll be just fine in that regard. The only concern I have is how Arteta will play him if we do get him, because in our current style of play we wouldn't use him to his strengths and Arteta is known to be a stubborn and tactically inflexible person, so if we change to a more direct style of play where he's spearheading our attack, he will terrorize defenders, but in the slow buildup and false 9 style he would be wasted.

I just want to see us play some quality attacking football for a change, because I'm sick of the boring Stoke tactics that Arteta has been pushing for a while now.

The Prem is more physical - I'm not just talking about aggressive tackling, but how little time you get on the ball. Defenders are faster, stronger, quicker with their decisions, smarter, everything. It's why they play in the best league, and it's the one thing every single player mentions as a hurdle to overcome when joining the league. Everything happens at a more rapid clip.

Gyokeres has the physical tools to do well in that regard, I agree with that. But having the tools and effectively applying them are two different things; many physically gifted players have terrorized poor leagues just to later fall short when taking the step up.

I just don't see how he could fail in the right system. He's fast for his height, physically strong and has decent technique to play some combinations.

His heading needs work, but if we play the ball to his feet as much as possible, he will find a way to put it in the net.

Gyokeres will score plenty if the likes of Areola are laying on assists like the one MGW just got for Forest :eyess:

He's fast in the same way Højlund is fast. Not saying they are the same level before anyone jumps at me, but the physical tools are similar and not quite enough to get by on alone. It's an asset though obviously and one of the reasons why he might be a success, but there's a gap between Gyokeres and players that genuinely dominated with their physicality IMO.

I know the heading stuff has become a bit of a meme but the reason PL teams tend to opt for crossing so much is because it is incredibly difficult to unlock a defense by passing to feet these days, there's barely any space to work with. It's why the cut inside -> inswinging cross stuff has taken over almost every team, it's statistically the most consistent way of creating chances and it has elevated the importance of at least being decent in the air.

I personally think his heading ability is a genuine problem, but not a dealbreaker. It would honestly not surprise me that if you bring him in, we're going to see a surprising amount of games with him at LW trying to get on the end of Saka crosses.
