Im pretty sure that this season we drew 8 or 9 times from a winning position in the second half, and lost once as well from the same situation. That's where the title was lost. People are going on about low blocks and which striker best helps us break those down, but for me the bigger issue was failing to go to 2-0 and 3-0 once the original breakthrough was made, leaving the door open for the opposition. That's where Gyokeres would really shine for us with his direct play against an opposition that necessarily would have to open up against us once behind. He'd have plenty of occasion to play to his strengths.

Factor in something like 15 plus PL games we drew blanks or only scored once.

No chance sustaining let alone winning a PL title.

I would think the only way gyok does not come here is if united win Europa league, that will give them extra funds and potential lure of champions league with former manager.

I would still think he signs unless sporting drive a particularly hard deal / Šeško becomes available at a more alluring figure.

Gyok most likely but seems we may not be putting all our eggs in one basket this time, we can pivot to the other option if deal doesn't suit us.

This transition concern is overplayed, we get those opportunities, excelled at them in the past even. But right now it increasingly rests entirely on Martinelli.

Obviously he needs to do it in a crowded box but that threat in behind will be huge to reclaim some of those points lost from winning positions.

To be honest we need to change our approach at home before worrying how Gyokeres or Šeško will do here we need to be more quicker with how we play.

Again if Kai can give you 20-25 goals all competition what stopping Gyokeres to hit 30 goals all competition?
