This is a depressing choice. Both players are far from perfect and I imagine the uncertainty regarding who is the preferred option is because neither are great enough to be the obvious solution.

I'm resigned to having someone who is an alternative to Havertz rather than a superior option.

I genuinely believe this is what Arteta wants too.

They got Nkunku as well so they'll at least need to sell one or maybe both Nkunku and Jackson. Big teams usually have tow Cf at thier club because managers mostly play with one CF

Think this is true with any striker signing tbf. One of the obvious pros about Havertz as a player, he'll work his ass off and do everything in his power to help the players around him.

Yeah not sure I buy into the 90m price tag but if that is true then you really need to be absolutely convinced that he’s going to be world class soon to even consider it. Are we hitting a point in football where the “mid-tier” players are becoming too close in value to the established world class guys to where you’re better just doing a Rice type deal and buying the best available player at 100m + until the market catches up. Market price needs to be the price of what a player may become in the future, in combination with the player that they are today and development cost/time to offset that. Are we seeing the latter? I do appreciate though that Rice is a somewhat rare case of a 100m player working out

The more days passes, the more I'm convinced that both are not our main targets.

I would even go and say that we are looking for a total different type of attacker: kinda a second striker (Jesus type) instead of a target man. One that can play also on the wings and play together with Havertz. One that is more versatile. Kinda like Martinez at Inter playing together with Thuram (Kai being Thuram).

Makes perfect sense for Arteta to go for Alvarez. Brings squad depth and can be used as lone striker, second striker or on the wings. We were never going to get a CF to bench Havertz directly and neither Sesko or Gyökeres can play another position than CF. Arteta is in love with Havertz and he will never bench him for Sesko or Gyökeres.

The only way to get rid of Havertz is when we get rid of Arteta...

You just happened to be convinced of this the day after Thierry Henry very publicly mentioned him as the 9 he prefers. Interesting.

I feel like we're watching Chelsea, City and Liverpool get business done extremely early for none of our targets, and if we wait for them to be finished, we can get prices down.

It's the sort of tactic id expect from us. City and Chelsea both want business done before the club world cup.
