Playmaker trying to argue that missing loads of big chances is a good thing was a new learning experience for me today.

these guys clearly understand football to a level us normal guys just can’t comprehend.

Jokes aside I do think people are jumping on to this ‘plays deep’ thing. Whenever I’ve watched him (admittedly not a lot) I haven’t really seen him play noticeably deeper but even if he was, the main issues I saw were the inability to create separation and his terrible 1v1 finishing.

I know the only football you really watch is Arsenal now and again and nothing more wish everyone else did 😭

I know you’re just me but less balls to the wall on players 😂

What am I arguing exactly? Its a fact the top scorers miss the most big chances. If he missed 34 big chances and scores 1 goal, obviously its a bad thing. But having a striker who is in position to miss big chances is half the battle.

It was tongue in cheek which is why I didn’t @ you and said jokes aside after mentioning you.

I’m aware the best goalscorers get the highest xG and miss the most chances. Sesko doesn’t seem to generate xG though which is another concern.

Do Lewandoski and Kane generate xG?

Obviously not comparing Šeško to either but he’s in style of forward.

Suppose the Q is do the best (tall CF’s who don’t relying on dribbling) create loads of their own xG?

When people say “creating xG” it’s natural to think of someone like Ekitike weaving through a bunch of players. But that’s not really it.

It’s just about getting a shot off.

If you are shot shy, then you will have low xG. Kane and Lewandowski are anything but shot shy. So yeah, they don’t dribble past players and do a madness but they generate xG.

But they also play for teams that get you shots. They also have players who take up positions to allow more space for the CF. Raphinha and Yamal are an absolute handful. Bayern have Olise and Musiala wreaking havoc.

Leipzig sold Olmo. Its not like Openda is creative and then they have Simons who is inconsistent at best. Their fullbacks dont create.

The amount of balls saka flashed accross the box. Sesko won't need to generate xg. Just ****ing run into the box and you will get a chance. Our cfs are too busy mulling around at the edge of the box .

Also he gets shots off both feet. Watching Ekitike trying to use his left foot is painful. I dont think Sesko would have a problem getting shots off for us. Just an opinion. Ill await posts I made 4 years ago about Vlahovic being brought up.

All of a sudden everyone is an expert. Everyone has clocked that Šeško played deeper to accommodate Openda. Almost as if some Arsenal content creator tactico has released scouting videos or something huh?

Watch games and clips for yourself.

I watched Šeško at Salzburg in the CL vs Liverpool, I watched him in the Euros, I watched bits last season and this, he drops deep, its a part of his game, it always has been.

On a final note, when Only One and The Playmaker are on the same side, you probably want to be on the other side....

Yeah my only counter here would be that Šeško didn’t get all that much xG the season before either..

I mean let’s be real, if Šeško does nothing other than hang around the 6yrd box and wait for crosses he probably scores 20 goals easy. He is a physical freak. I just don’t want that to be our planA (again) so I’m pushing back on it but I don’t actually think he’ll flop here.

Why? Because he scored? Guess what? The goal came from him starting in a deeper position and running into the box. Not him sniffing out chances in the box.

Striker market is empty it's basically VG or Sesko. Only if Osimhen didn't have the screws loose. Would come in and kill some teams here.

Ye I’ve stopped caring what we do at striker tbh. It’s been said many times but Merino managed to do alright there for us, an actual striker, any actual striker, would probably 💥

Just get me the god damn left winger already though 😭

Arsenal Quotes

I'm prepared to be committed to the club at least until we go into the new stadium. For me, it’s important that the club goes in there and that I make sure the team are at a very good level. After that, whether it’s me or someone else, the club will be able to compete at the highest level. But for me to run away now would not be fair.
