Roger is a AM just like Eze. LW not his strongest position.
With Ode and Eze here - I don't think Rogers is going to be starting there.

It is a totally different case. Ekitike and Isak are both CF. Roger main position is AM just like Eze. LW not his strongest position.
Rogers best position is LW, you've been told this about 100 times by Villa fans. However he can play CAM
If that’s the case, why is he in competition with Bellingham for England? He doesn’t play LW for England.
I don’t want our star LW signing to be talked about as a ‘LW’ option.Well Tuchel's going to judge players on what he sees at club level and Rodgers mostly plays CAM at club level, but he's also said this

His best position is apparently LW yet he doesn’t play there for club or country. Like what are we doing here
I look at the wide options for the best teams in the world and I see natural wingers, yet so many of us seem okay with having Roger there as our full time Lw.
He's talked about as 'LW Option' by an international manager, who typically no F All anyway about players abilities he doesn't usually witness. Our resident Villa fan says he's best as left insider forward and his stats overwhelmingly back that up and it's not close, when he plays LW/LF he scores and assists way more.
So unless you want him as playmaker (not his thing) you put him nearer to goal.
You'd think Arsenal fans of all people would realise this through our Wenger years. He put all his best players in Henry, RVP, Alexis, Özil, Fabregas closer to goal and literally changed their positions to enable that
Rogers vastly overperforms his xG because he's an elite striker of the ball, Bacola isn't an elite striker of the ball so he equals his xG. This isn't rocket science maths here
Barcola also has amazing first step acceleration from a standing start. Question is how often would he get to use it against our dirty deep blocks?Barcola’s a better finisher than Roger’s but AM isn’t ready for that conversation.
Roger’s has very good outside the box shooting but that’s a slightly different skill set. Barcola has that far post Henry finish down and has a decent toe poke and near post finish too.
All finishes that are situationally specific to a LW who’s going to be bearing down on goal from the left side with a keeper coming towards him to close the angle. Watch a Roger’s comp and while impressive I’m not seeing the kind of goal scoring/finishing package we need for the LW.
Barcola should be option #1 and it’s not even close, I think the club feel the same though. We can get Roger’s if we want and my suspicion is that we’ll see movement on Roger’s only when the Barcola door is closed. Dreamland if we get both though.
Raphinia always passed the eye test though. Bradley not so much.Raphinha had 17 goals in 67 games at Leeds before he exploded at Barcelona.

I suspect its academic as PSG wont sell i think

Positional changes can happen with the most elite of players but there’s so much specialisation when it comes to positions that even a natural LW like Martinelli and Trossard will do better than Roger’s when it comes to the more intricate aspects of wing play imo.
We know Roger’s will be an improvement on Nelli on the ball but stuff like off the ball movement, positioning yourself to receive the ball, building partnerships with other players, these are all things that make me want a natural LW.
We’re the 2nd best team itw so why are we compromising?
We shouldn’t be. You know who we could try to get..?even they are wingers. This is the highest level of football brother.

I’ve watched a lot of Roger’s and I was actually guilty of overrating him in the past based on his highlights. I remember having this discussion with @Dokaka who was the one who slowed my roll on him a bit. I’d have loved to sign Roger’s last season instead of Eze but I now think he’s a bit of a redundant profile now. He's talked about as 'LW Option' by an international manager, who typically no F All anyway about players abilities he doesn't usually witness. Content isn’t visible in my region, who was itWe shouldn’t be. You know who we could try to get..?
Nah, joke aside. I want us to show some aura in the window and act like we’re the best team in Europe. At least bid for guys like Yildiz, Diomande and even Kvara or Vini. Just to show that we mean business.
