Bruno Guimaraes Welcome to the Arsenal.

Theres a lot of this team thats going to age out at the same time. We have by far the best foundations, from now onwards is the time to find elite prospects to refresh. Ultimately, you’re in position where you need to find replacements for almost irreplaceable players like rice at a decent rate. We cant go on signing kinsa and guimaraes as an age profile imo
While that is something to plan for - it's a bridge further down the road - the most immediate bridge is this small window of opportunity where a core of our players are in their prime and we need additions in their prime who can hit the ground running to maximise their efforts. We and they don't have time to develop anyone right now who needs time and patience. Obviously, if there is someone of a younger profile who is good and consistent enough - then that's fine but I don't think there was anyone in the market as good as Bruno G or Konsa.

What’s your strategy next summer then? Same again?

Depends on how this season goes. With your point about many players dropping off at the same time - we may need to do a City style turnover like they did this season in a worst case scenario.

See i think that really needs to be avoided. We cant afford to **** it up in the way they’ve done and go again with a new 11 either. We need to be introducing young players to the fold every couple of years. Was a great opportunity this year to give a prospect a chance in our lw if we werent going to sign someone established. Tzolis with somone like tyrique george backing him up would have been excellent.

We need to be giving some prospects with elite potential the chance because, in general, you cant sign players like saliba, saka, and rice ready made and you cant do anything serious without them. You cant acquire these players quickly with a rebuild is what I’m saying so we need to be looking to acquire and cultivate them at a sustainable rate while the old ones age out.

Dowman’s coming, saka came through the academy, saliba was purchased before arteta years ago, and rice was bought as an established star at a premium. There maybe other players who are on the fringes of this (cala, ode maybe).

We need to be renewing this cohort imo.

I like MLS but in a big match I would hope our top 3 of Bruno, Declan and Ode would be fit and firing. I think if we had a healthy Ode, Rice, and Bruno in the final last year against Paris results very likely could have been different; he adds a bit of X factor and cutting edge to our build up. He wasn’t far off from a brace as he curled one just wide of the far post in second half as well

Yeah the fact that MLS is even considered as a starter when Bruno is here just shows how good MLS has been. Great to have both, but Bruno, Rice, Ode is surely first choice for big games if they are all fully fit.

Yes MLS should be the first midfielder we use if rotation is necessary.he is a great talent and has certainly will be a key contributor off the bench

What are you even talking about? Our squad’s average age is 26. Tzolis is 24, hes got many more years in his career, he wasn’t an old guard recruitment. Yeah, Konsa is around his prime at 28… but remember he was brought in to replace saliba due to injury and immediately defend our title run. Saliba is 25, but has a long term unpredictable back injury and we absolutely needed Konsa to fit in right away. We have 2 awesome young center backs in Mosquera (22) and Salmon (17). 2 awesome young midfielders in MLS and Dowman. We are weak at forwards in general but two of our best, Saka and tzolis, are young.

Any players that are potentially aging out in the next 2 years are already replaced.

I think the point can get lost in the complexity of a squad. Defence is fine, but not mf or the forward line imo. MLS is good but we really only have one prospect in mf and dowman is a forward and doesn’t count to me. Crucially to me, we don’t have a mf with real legs so there should be an opportunity to have one as a prospect. Get bouaddi and guimaraes and sell zubi for example. In the forward line we have dowman as a prospect and a totally unfilled space on the left that could be a an established star who is first choice or failing that, a talented prospect which is second choice. There is no young prospect at striker. There is still fat in this team and opportunity to be investing minutes in young prospects.

Anyway, the broader point is really that i think an established squad in its prime should be investing in super players no older than 27 and failing that into prospects that could become them. I don’t think 28 and 29yos is the way forward from here on out and we should be making sure every spare minute is invested well in prospects we can flip or make into established superstars or we will stagnate. It’s not a comment on the current health of the squad but what we should do to maintain it.

His energy and attacking mindset/passing in the middle and especially in the final third is exactly what we needed.

MLS is developing nicely but he seems to slow down the play and be too cautious for what we need. Very Partey like.

You’re basically saying you don’t like the Bruno and Konsa transfers because of their age, even though they’ve both already proven to be important to this year’s title run. It’s great to get youth into the squad, but there isn’t a youth player available that will do what our 3 summer transfers have already done in the first 6 games. Investing in the future is fine, but we will attract more top talent if we defend our title this year.

No I’m not. Read the posts again. Konsa and Bruno are good signings but this should be the last window we sign players of that age/quality/commercial profile for the long term health of the squad. Keep going with that profile and we will be in trouble.

I agree, but we needed some more experience if we wanted to keep the win now mentality and it's already shown it's worth.

We've been investing heavily in youth as well, we are targeting both. The twins, kvara regen, Dowman of course and we tried for Monga.

Club has been ran excellently.
