Saka missed Arsenal’s games against Manchester City and Bournemouth in April, having withdrawn from the England squad in March, but played through the pain barrier in order to help the Premier League side seal their first title win in more than two decades.
He also started Arsenal’s Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain on May 30, but was substituted in the 83rd minute and had to watch from the bench as his side lost on penalties after extra time.
Asked if he needs to help boost Saka’s confidence, Tuchel said: “No, absolutely not. He was very decisive; they brought him back against Fulham when the season and title was on the line, and he was straight away decisive.
“And then they decided together, Bukayo and Arsenal, to let him play through his pain and discomfort, even if it was not possible to train the whole week in the build-ups.
Interesting that he mentioned this:
Feel like this will just carry into next season and it could be stop, start imo.
We need to plan that he realistically won't be able to play anywhere near a full season.
Tell me you know nothing about achilles tendon problems without telling me.We just squeezed everything we could out of him. He’s sadly done. At 24 he can’t train consecutive days is crazy
Worst injury you can haveTell me you know nothing about achilles tendon problems without telling me.
If torn, yes. Has ended some careers even.Worst injury you can have
He’s not getting rest at England or Arsenal. Arteta will play him as long as he can move. So part of him being done is I think this coming season will end him being pushed to the maxIf torn, yes. Has ended some careers even.
Otherwise, it's very much load-dependent. Meaning, him not training consecutive days is very much expected while he plays through it. Calling him 'done' is simply ignorant.
I'm worried he's playing through it though. It's a very risky proposition. Boy needs a proper rest and recovery regimen.
How they treat him next season will tell us a lot. Do they protect him and give him the time needed or do they approach it as get as much as you can now out of him and let him be someone else problemFor once @Rasmi has a point. Achilles tendinitis is nothing to play with. He will not be at a 100% unless he’s able to devote a good 2-3 months solely on strengthening the tendon and giving it time to repair. He needs to be load managed for sure. Once he gets a bit of rest, it’s 60 minutes in the league, no fa cup, no league cup, second half appearances during easy and early ucl games. It’s time to start ushering in Max Dowman. Saka shouldn’t even play the first month or so of this upcoming season. It should be Madueke as the starter with Dowman as an early substitute most games
Umm we have a 17 year old prodigy literally waiting to be unleashedArsenal are gonna have to sign a Rayan level player for that right side man. Can't rely on Madueke for the season. Nor can we afford to wait for Saka.
I was saying earlier that this upcoming season may be Saka's last at the club if he doesn't fully recover imo.
Fair point. Forgot about him.Umm we have a 17 year old prodigy literally waiting to be unleashed
Tell me you know nothing about achilles tendon problems without telling me.
Diomande is the one they should be looking at as he's comfortable on either wing. Him, Rogers and a RB as primary signings and we cooking.Arsenal are gonna have to sign a Rayan level player for that right side man. Can't rely on Madueke for the season. Nor can we afford to wait for Saka.
I was saying earlier that this upcoming season may be Saka's last at the club if he doesn't fully recover imo.
