Saka is not playing to his potential imo. He’s still ‘our best attacker’ by proxy because our attack is pretty meh for a top team but I think of Saka as a world class player. He has not been world class recently.

Trossard has in fact been our best attacker quite comfortably form wise, followed by Merino because he has scored key goals.

I feel like Saka is forcing things and trying too hard, rather than playing his natural game. It’s like he is trying to be our Salah, when that’s not his game (and it’s ok it isn’t).

There’s a gear he can go up vs the performances we are seeing right now.

To the fans who protect him to tooth and nail, surely you don’t think this is prime Saka? You’re disrespecting the guy if you think so.

Very greedy of late. Made some selfish decisions at Chelsea when he should have passed/crossed but instead sent the ball flying sky high over the bar numerous times.
Seems he’s getting frustrated with his drop in form and forcing things.

It's obviously not his top form but the discourse around him has been bizarre to be blunt. He dropped an 8/10 performance yesterday and you have many thinking he was poor. To the point I'm questioning what sport folks are watching. You can acknowledge players being good + also pointing out that they're still not at their best.

Bro

Look at the numbers I posted + actually watch the game. He provided the assist for Trossard too. Like what are we doing here 🤣

- It wasn't an assist, it was a saved shot.
- He gave the ball away early with a square pass that set Villa on the counter. He done this a few times.
- He couldn't get up and down the pitch, left White alone a fair bit, Timber had to help cover.
- He made a terrible decision of taking a shot early on while on a counter, the shot wasn't on and was blocked.
- Generally he was off the pace, forcing things and making some bad decisions.

Stop with this 8/10. 6 at most.

If I’m to be honest I think there is some sort of protection culture around Saka because he’s our golden child. It means you can’t hold him accountable to his potential.

Whenever he has a poor game for his standards it’s always “he wasn’t the problem today, he wasn’t the worst attacker, he was one of the better ones”. Which might be true but he should be held to a higher standard.

Due to his talent by proxy his lesser performances are still a 6-7/10 in general terms (whereas other players like Marti or Madueke can drop 4-5/10s). Thats fine, but he’s dropping too many 6 or 7 out of 10s for our aspirations and I can’t remember the last time he dropped a 9+ out of 10 in the league.

I’m expecting 7,8,8,7,9,9,7,8s form wise from him (which he’s proven before) but he’s dropping 7,6,7,6,7,7,6,8,7s out here.

I expect that form from a Marti, Madueke level player and would be happy with that, but not a Saka level player.

If we think Saka is a world class player we should not be comparing him to what’s okay or good. We should be comparing him to what’s great or fantastic.

The standards are the standards, unfair though they may be at times.

A world class players gets judged on them, not on what we judge Ødegaard and others.

It's not that he was poor yesterday, it was that he was ok and you expect him to be the one to grab the game by the scruff of its neck.

!!!! If it really was the call from Titi then he needs to unlearn that stuff right now.

He’s trying to be a 20 goal 10 assist guy when imo the type of player he is at his best is a 15 goal 15 assist guy.

Same GA total at the end of the day but if you try to force being something you’re not you’ll end up falling short. I know the stat lacks a lot of context but him going half a season or whatever it was without an open play assist tells me something.

It’s even amongst my friends bro, people whose football opinions I respect. There seems to be a mental block when it comes to Saka.

But the response is so easy. It’s: “I guess you don’t rate Saka as highly as I do because he should be doing better than this”. Then they’re silenced for the most part 😂

I thought he was one of our clear standouts yesterday so I'm a bit puzzled by some of the comments.

I guess it’s a matter of expectations. Some people still seem to treat him a bit like a prospect and are satisfied if he’s lively and looks dangerous. Some consider him a superstar attacking player and expect that level of output. If you’re in the latter group, I think there is room for criticism. 4 goals and 1 assist in 13 games is pretty disappointing for somebody who put in 14+11 in the league few years back

He's a good player on his dad but that's it. To reach the heights of world class you need to be consistently top and also win matches. He's not a matchwinner. How many examples can people bring up of him in a big game for us taking the ball and scoring a big goal to win a game against a big side?

Hard to blame him, our attack is still kinda just Saka and hope at this point when it really shouldn't be...only Trossard has stepped up this season.

Need more from Eze and Viktor now, as they are the big signings...Bukayo isn't an Henry or Salah style player anyway, he will get good numbers but not great ones...our attack needs to get back to 2022-2024 era, with everyone getting double figures pretty much.
We are too predictable for sure, "just" take Saka out of the game and we rarely ever get behind the defense.

It's why I wanna see the Madueke RW
Saka LW combo at least one time.
I really feel it could be amazing and open the pitch up so much.
