What Henry said was factually accurate. Giroud is a donkey whose profile has grown among Arsenal supporters after he left because people have forgotten how many sitters he used to miss and how poor his work rate could be. Saka is objectively better and more consistent at the game of football than Jeremy Doku is. What Pires said is stupid and wrong.

It was still an unnecessary and harmful statement given the circumstances from a club legend which didn't help the cause of the club he's suppose to love at all. Thankfully when Giroud called him out he **** himself and backed down pretty much..

Yup, Giroud sure proved him wrong with that title he won us. Wasn't it great when he mugged us off after he joined Chelsea too? Great guy, Giroud. There's a difference between pointing out something factual about the club and just pulling something out of your ass with no basis in reality like what Pires did.

What a bunch of snow flakes our fans are, why are people reacting like what said something blasphemous. Pires is just as much entitled to his opinion as is everyone else.

I would rather people attack his opinion rather than the man. It's just a beta male way of arguing.

Personally i do agree that Saka is a little short of world class. He needs to go up another level. Either scoring more goals i.e. like Salah or improving his decision making when in the final 3rd or his technical link up play.

I believe if Wenger was coaching him the last two would definitely be achieved.

He could have found a better player than Doku to try to make his point though lol.

I don’t necessarily disagree with Pires’ overall point.

Saka has a level of improvement in him to truly transform into a bonafide world class talent. That in some part will be related to this efficiency in front of goal. I think he reaches that bracket by slapping serious numbers down like Salah year in year out.

Where Pires gets it horribly wrong is by calling him inferior to an overrated donkey like Doku. Must have been on the va va voom when he made that statement

This is my problem. I don't care if he prefers other players. To use a notoriously inconsistent player who has achieved not even a fraction of what Saka has individually as his example and ignore that Saka is one of the most consistent players in all of football is inexplicable. There is no way he could actually be looking at the two players regularly and come to the conclusion that Doku plays football at a better or especially a more consistent level than Saka does.

If you want to say someone like Salah, Vini or even Rodrygo then fine. The Doku comparison is unserious though. Say you prefer him, fine. To say he's better and especially more consistent does not jive with reality and it's odd to disrespect a guy who plays for your club like that. There should never be a world where Roy Keane speaks more favorably about Saka than our supposed club legends.

Doku has higher stats than all of them for take ons and progressive carries. Presumably Pires finds that reminiscent of a 90s style winger. Hopefully he doesn't manage to get his decision making on point because he'd be frightening if that happens

It could be a combo of Pires just preferring Doku's style (plus English isn't his first language, so wouldn't look too much into the consistent thing as that's probably not what Robert completely meant) and maybe feeling you can't be "world class" until you win the league, as that's the mindset a lot of our older players probably have... winning is everything.

Do dislike how quickly this place (and Arsenal fans in general) can really turn against literal legends of this club for no real reason, it's not like Bobby said Bukayo was crap ffs...let him have his opinion.

I love Pires but disagree strongly with him about Doku/Saka thing.

Saka is not even that robotic player. Before last season when teams started to double mark him he was having full backs on toast almost every game with his dribbling. Still came good last season with the double marking. Played very clever.

This season he has done some top top dribbling already and had full backs on the floor. People need to lay off their phone and just watch the games.

Doku at this stage is a slightly better Adama Traore let's be real. He's not even in the same ball park as Saka. Really odd comments from Bobby and he's one of my favourite all-time Arsenal players.
Doku, St Maximin and Traore are the sort of “ballers” that fans will reminisce over in a two-minute video on X with Central Cee playing the background in ten years from now. Those same fans will complain that football isn't what it used to be.

Pires shouldn't have let the Arsenal online fandom bully him, he wasn't wrong. He basically said Doku is the better dribbler and more of a sparkplug which is true.

The only bit of contention was consistency in big games, Doku is in a better team and Saka hasn't been in as many finals and stuff (at club level anyways) so that one is something that just can't be proven yet.

He is a better dribbler but that doesn't make him more of a sparkplug. Saka is levels ahead in decision making and a better finisher and a better passer. Stats reflect that which is why saka is much more productive. As for big games only KDB and salah have more goals and assists against the big 6 in recent years.
