If he's got a good agent he should be highest earner by the time he signs a new deal. If Havertz is on 300k by rights Saka should be nearer the 500k mark. Would we pay that though?

Everyone here agrees Havertz isn’t worth his 300k salary, yet they think he should be the new marker which we use to negotiate our contracts. This would severely damage the club btw

This is the problem.

Saka should be our highest earner but I think this Havertz contract will end up with him being overpaid. I think that 400k mark should really be for elite goalscorers or something.

I’m saying Havertz may be on 300k, but he’s not a 300k player so should not be used as a benchmark. Maybe a “good” agent will try, but some players just flop after contracts and if the bar is always set at the level, the inflation gets completely out of hand. Your post might not have been the right one to quote since you specifically said the agent part but I saw many fans justifying using that as a benchmark in general, for example:

Should get 400k a week if Havertz and Jesus get near 300k

My point is, Havertz’s salary sets a dangerous precedent that should not be followed because Havertz has not justified his price tag.

Mo Salah makes 350k. That seems pretty fair. It’s wild how greedy these ball kickers can be. At a certain point you’re just robbing the club who could put that money toward other players to elevate your trophy chances.

Ah I see. Yeah I'm definitely looking at it from an agents point of view. Hard to say anybody is justified for that kind of money but can only go on what's being paid out there and Saka is by far our most important attacker.

If you check previous page I said 350k but this is because Saka deserves it, not because of Havertz' contract. Saka is carrying us on a level that is unseen in football, I'm saying that even Salah can't do it. He'd be a flop under Arteta's terroristball system.

Bro, it doesn’t matter if he’s worth it or not, you think that’s how agents negotiate their player wages?! It’s not AM out there irl you know 😂
Nah you know the agent whose duty is to get Saka the best deal possible is just going to ignore the donkey's wage in negotiations because he doesn't really deserve it and poor billionaire Stan can't pay Saka more. The poor whittle club should be let off the hook for their stupidity and play hardball with the best and most important player. 🤣

Can you just imagine if some A-M members were responsible for contract negotiations at Arsenal Football Club

Our entire team would be on 500k per week contracts and/or sold to Coventry City ASAP

Lol I can understand people criticizing Arteta because our football is looking stale, especially comparing it to 22/23. Now Saka is ****ing world class at 23 and Arteta has been hindering him?
Yes possibly - i would love to see him play without the level of defensively responsiblity that arteta requires. I think he might be even more effective - how many attackers actually look really good under Arteta? Anyway if we get a couple of top class attackers in summer, we will get to the bottom of whether its the system or players.

I do think Arteta sacrifices a bit of our attack to aid our defence but based on the debate in the Ethan thread is there any statistical evidence that Saka is tracking back too much?

Honestly based on the eye test I can’t say I’ve noticed it like I have with someone like Nelli.

From last season:

See this could be a result of him being particularly good at tackles and blocks, we do press high and he’s particularly strong and good defensively for a winger. It is evidence though.

I’d be more interested in any stats that show he’s covering more distance, sprinting more, or spending more time in our defensive third.

The owners are billionaires. Are you one of those that support greedy billionaires over the athletes that are bringing revenue to the team? Saka has been the best thing to happen to Arsenal since 2005 lol.

It's obviously a problem with the system when all the attackers are injured cause of all the running the have to do covering for players paid to control the game in the midfield or to defend, it's not coincidence that Saka, Havertz and Martinelli all suffered hamstring injuries.

I agree, I was just wondering if there were numbers to back it.
