Why does every club legend except Ian hate the club? We have the worst club legends in sports too.
It's motivation. This is his relationship with Saka by the way. Saka is very clear that Thierry tells him what he feels he needs to hear, not just compliments. It says something about the respect that Thierry has for Saka that he would text him something like that and trust him to take it the right way and deliver. It means he rates his mentality.

Loved the fact that he took the penalty and did not give it to Gyökeres for stat padding. Even if we are 4-0, Saka should take our penalties.

Dowman should have taken the penalty he won against Leeds tbh. Would have been cool to see him become the youngest scorer in premier league history.

Why? Some meaningless record. Goals and assists will boost the confidence of our starters and that is what we need, not the fact that a 15 year old scored a goal early on his career.

I want Saka to reach 15G/15A, it is kinda a selffulfilling prophecy. He gets more goasl/assists, his confidence will boost and he will get more.

Game was already done and Gyokeres scored that game. I mean, Arteta brought on Dowman against Liverpool away, while the team was losing. So he is clearly expected to make a difference for the first team already.

Trying to fire him up for West Ham? He doesn't need reminded that they lost to West Ham at home twice in a row. Thierry thinks he's the main character.
He is the main character until someone in this team wins the PL tbh. None of them can talk to him, he's won it all

I cannot understand this mentality. Game was already done ...
By that logic, if we are winning 5-0, it is okay to concede 1 goal because the game is already done.

We want our most important players to have great stats that will boost their confidence. Now Downman is playing under 21, he will have his time. If he is good enough, he will score for sure. But to give a penalty to a youngster to have a record is just loser mentality.

Our best penalty taker should take all our penalties and that is Gyokeres
Uhh Saka scored 13, missed 2 and that against top quality GK's and not like the once in Championship or Portuguese league.

And by that logic, should Havertz not take the penalties? He scored 14 and missed 0 in all competition (friendlies and youth excluded, otherwise 20-1).

Saka's yesterday penalty was world class, no way any GK could have stopped it. For me, there is no reason to change it, unless Saka starts missing it...

Saka is number one penalty taker and he our best player so gyo gonna understand that and I'm sure he already been told about it.

It'll be up to Saka to give the opportunity to gyo but players rarely do that in close games

It's not that deep lol. Leeds are fodder, they weren't a threat at all. Plus it's more of a loser mentality for your main striker to be hugging all the penalties to pad his stats. Gyokeres gotta start scoring some goals from open play cause it's been a while. Good thing he is doing so far is dragging defenders away from Saka so he is not getting double and triple teamed as much.

I think Gyok is the penalty taker. The only reason Saka took it yesterday was because it was his 200th appearance and Henry scored on his 200th too.

I do agree that if it is given to an attacker just to stat pad, that is also a loser mentality.
Your main penalty taker should take all penalties, no discussion! You don't want to create frictions between players because of this issue.

I mean it could be Saka, Ødegaard or Havertz too. They all have a very good record of scoring from the spot, not just Gyokeres. To me there should not be just 1 designated penalty taker. We saw it with Messi and Ronaldo that even when they'd miss multiple times, they kept taking them lol.

Arsenal Quotes

I still have an interest in training and development, in the stages that make it possible for players first to acquire technique (between 7 and 12) and then to develop physically (between 12 and 16), then to deepen their mental resilience (between 17 and 19) and finally between 19 and 22 to acquire what is critical, like the roof of a house without which all the rest rots away: intelligence and motivation
