It’s one of the things many seem to be overlooking. The over reliance on Ødegaard as our main and only really creative outlet will hinder us at a point but I feel in order for this to work then Declan Rice has to develop and show us the passes between the lines that Jorginho and Partey have done in our system when they’re playing in the 6 role to help with transitions otherwise it would be a bit of a waste.
Absolutely. Just defending is not enough in midfield. He has to offer more. Right now he is a solid player we completely overpaid for and to justify this our fans go crazy for every tackle he makes

personally I won’t be surprised if Liverpool have known Klopps intention to step down this summer for a while and have a deal agreed with Alonso already. Klopp made the announcement knowing the successor was already in place.
That said, still find it funny that Dier is a starter for Bayern! How the **** did that happen?! Bournemouth is more his level, not Bayern Munich!

Giving a shout out to Nathan Tella - released by Arsenal at 18 after basically being pretty average up to that point...didn't show a lot for the next 4 years. Then tears it up on loan to Burnley and now playign a significant role in a title charge. Hats off

The way Xabi uses his fullbacks is probably want Emery wanted to do here. Insane numbers from them

Alonso doesn't use full backs, he uses wing backs in a 3-4-3. Completely different type of freedom. Grimaldo and Frimpong are both very offensive players with defensive weaknesses, they wouldn't be that good as FBs.

Pool are already perfectly set up to play the same way, got two fantastic wingbacks. Go three at the back to cover for TAA defensive weakness and they will be scary.

They have the midfielders for it, too. Their lack of a great single pivot #6 and their abundance of two-way 8s fits the 3-4-3.
