If the clubs on Europe were barred from playing and the prize was still a European place it would be a huge incentive for smaller teams like Tottenham.

Teams like Ipswich simply rotate to keep the core of their team fit for one game per week.

When you start a a season where you would take a Sp**s finish 17th place you know every week fatigue will play a part up against the top 10 sides in the PL.

despite us not caring about this competiton as fans i still won't surprise if our B team reach semi final at least if they serious about it our B team will likely finish top 5 in PL.

I liked the wenger youth team run to the final back in the day.

Staying in the PL is more important and profitable than winning a league or FA Cup. I agree that there’s a high probability they’re going to rotate heavily. That doesn’t mean their B team will take it easy on us, though, because they’ll still play their hearts out.

I would probably start MLS at LB in this one, a case of needs must. Konsa and Hincapie at CB with Salmon at RB. Zubi/Merino/Dowman midfield and Madukeke/Gyökeres/Eze front 3.

Timber can timeshare RCB with Konsa.

I don't understand not caring about this competition at least a bit.

We've got an exceptionally strong squad. If I'm Mosquera, Eze, Merino, Madueke Gyokeres etc I want decent minutes this season in the domestic cups because I'm probably not going to be starting too many PL games unless they really hit some form.

For Salmon and Dowman cup minutes are really important too, maybe another youngster like could make a name for themselves with these minutes too.

Did you forget about last season? This competition contributed massively to our players being knackered come the end. The two legged semi final is brutal.

We've never cared about it (in the PL era at least). It was almost an annoyance to Arsène. There are only 3 trophies we should really care about and I only include the FA cup because we haven't done the treble yet and it's our tournament. The league and CL are what matters. This tournament should be for youngsters and to keep our reserves sharp and then maybe if we reach a final again we try to win that with a stronger squad.

To be fair we had a very easy run to the semis. I don't believe we played a PL team to that point.

I wouldn't think the 2 legs of the semi against Chelsea significantly affected squad fitness and I don't think many fans would have been happy going out to Chelsea with a weakened side then anyway.

I don’t get the Kepa hate, he’s a top second keepers. Got us to a final and QF last season. Very good return.

Arsenal Quotes

Arsène Wenger's idea is not only to play good football. It's to play good football to win. In my day, we knew that with our style we could hurt teams and win trophies too. But we did it our way, with the positional game, passing, movement.
