At the time I bought into the Cole smear campaign but now that I am older, all nonsense tbh the club should have just paid him properly.

We ended up with another d*ckhead in Gallas anyways might as well have kept the guy who was arguably the best in the world in his position instead.

The hotel was inexcusable but there was loads of build up and he was under appreciated compared to our other invincibles. Not sure if it was cause of his position as a fullback or because he came from youth set up or what. Looking at our current contract issues we haven’t improved.

He was definitely villainised more then others I remember it clearly, he’s basically been erased from our history almost.

Wasn't it a fight between Dein and Fiszman, that caused Cole's contract mess up...it doesn't matter really, Chelsea had more money and all his mates were there...amazing player, but a scumbag really.

Cole said Chelsea were signing top players, they also had all his England mates.

It was the right decision really, the talk around Arsenal at that time was all about things “getting tight” and Arsenal “not being able to compete for a few years” etc. I can see why Cole wouldn’t want to commit to that.

Imagine Cole playing alongside Almunia, Eboue, Squillaci etc, would’ve been a travesty really.

He’s a great player when you think about it, and I mean really great, what he achieved here and at Chelsea and his consistency puts him in conversation for one of the best ever in the PL.

We were never on the same level as Man United or Chelsea when it comes to talent but RVP said the said thing.

It's obvious Arsène didn't like the ruthless mentality, he was too nice and forgiving to players that's why they made the same mistakes over and over.
