It's weird, guess you could could compare Chelsea now to Chelsea in 2012...but none of this current Chelsea team look like Champions league winner tbh.
At least the Chelsea team in 2012 (even though declining) had some characters and winners in it, bit like our 2006 team...really can't see them winning it.

They have a Brazilian Lion in Thiago Silva. Definitely a winner and leader.
But in all seriousness, let’s not kid ourselves about the quality that Chelsea have. They might be inconsistent in the PL but some of the players (Werner, Ziyech, Havertz, Jorginho etc) they’ve got are more suited to the open CL games where teams will give you space to play football.
Their squad is stacked tbf and one of the best in the CL. They’ve got a really good chance of getting to the final with a bit of luck.

Remain unconvinced, tbh.
They have some quality but it's not a patch on the players they had in 2012...Cech, Terry, Cole, Ivanovic, Lampard, Drogba...that's a great spine...not for league football at that point, but for a knock out comp.
Cech compared to Mendy, Lampard compared to Jorginho, Drogba compared to Werner...can't see it.
Feel they aren't of a good enough quality, or have enough scumbags in their team to win it...you need one of these.

In these knockout competitions it’s all about luck especially if they manage to get to the final.
Both of these games in 2005 should have been non contests with the quality that Chelsea and AC Milan had but Liverpool managed to get lucky. The biggest form of luck was that ghost goal.
There’s no way Liverpool should have got past either of these sides to win the CL.
