I was just about to post this but this is actually incredible 46 players I count they need to clear out at least 20 players before the deadline even not counting the youngsters who might play u23 or go on loan still about 40 players

Watched their pre season game against Real and their defence looks like an absolute clown show, same vs city and celtics based on the highlights. Disasi and Badiashille are crap, Colwill is seriously overhyped. And their wingers are not good outside of palmer. Think these man are in for another rough season.

Their problem is they have completely lost any sense of identity. Obviously there’s a bunch of talent but there’s no coherent idea.

Which is crazy cos for the last 20 years for the most part they did have an identity, of being evil winning bastards. They’ve thrown that identity out trying to replace it with some vague idea of ‘youth and possession football’, which is totally against what made them successful. It’s a mess.

Maresca actually needs to drop his lines deeper, depending on the opponent. Do like what Arteta did in his first half season, and dont be ashamed of it.

Get those Chelsea boys understanding where they need to be and how they need to move first, before becoming more adventurous pushing up as they currently do.

From that image they have 7 GK's on their books. Just saw they're on the verge of buying another GK (teenager from Genk). Absolutely insane.

I don't feel bad for these players because they keep signing with Chelsea despite the circumstances being clear to everyone. If you are talented enough as a teenager for Chelsea to be willing to pay £15-20M, then surely other clubs have scouted as well and would gladly sign them up. Why mortgage your future development over extra €10K per month right now???
I can understand Tosin joining as a free agent to some degree....likely last big contract so prime objective was to maximize financial outcome.
