No, I only learned about it after I already started supporting the club. He just casually mentioned it was the team he grew up liking but he's never really followed them in adulthood. He's not a like a real Spud supporter. The only football team he really is invested in is the Brazilian national team. I have a cousin who is a Manc as well so I actually have overcome a lot.

No but everyone on my Dad's side of the family loves Brazil. I think it's the case with a lot of people from smaller nations that don't have really competitive teams to support one of the big nations. I think probably Pele had a lot to do with it as well, being a black global icon. It's similar to how much Messi and Maradona mean to Latin people who are not Argentinian.
