I don't know why have to gloss over this departure.

It's a big blow, otherwise the club wouldn't have tried so much to keep him. He thinks he has a better way into the first team somewhere else, so it's his fair choice.

For us it's the worst case. One way is to integrate these players into the future of the club and the other way is to make profit with them - we've got none of these options.

Born in Denmark, no? Don’t see how you would be able to lie with European birth documentation.
He came from somewhere after that (Nigeria I believe?). I promise you I know an absolute first tier insider, he told me about him long before he hit the news and scored the 10 against pool or whatever it was.

This is deeply disappointing. Why would anyone go to Man U at this point in time? Why is Chido Obi so sour on Arsenal when he got the chance to play? This feels agent driven, but what do I know.

Dortmund would have been the best move for him if he wanted to get early first team action. Going to United stinks of money tbf.

And we are not planning to buy a striker until he turns 21? You know that by?

Fact is Arteta has shown himself as a chequebook manager over blooding youths in the last 4 years. They kids and their parents are not stupid
He's also given a debut the youngest Arsenal player of all time, and given a second appearance to the player who had top flight games earlier than Messi, Vinicius, Henry, Foden, Zidane and many of the best wonderkids of the past 30 years.

Show me how many kids within the normal debut ages of 18-21 that Arteta hasn't looked at who have been remotely worth the trouble. Our young players were mostly pretty **** by EPL standards. As I've said many times before, last years FA YC squad of Nwaneri, MLS, Roziak etc has been the first crop worth a fig since Saka's class.

Doesn't change the fact that if Obi stayed here he's 3th in line for the CF position as things stand.

Indeed, but what else could we have done? Been playing up the age groups, built the team around him at those age groups and given him a free run at u21 starter at aged 16...

Indeed. The move to Dortmund made sense. Going to United is mad as he has more in his way there and a club that no-one knows WTF is happening from month to month. Must be ££ or a prior fandom

He’s leaving then? Oh well never mind. Guy is not 16, he says so himself in private (I know this for a fact, but cannot reveal how). He looks good as he is massive compared to the group he is with.
🤔 You saying he is older and on the scam? Would be fkin funny if Man U find out hes actually 25😜
He's from Scandi isn't he so not sure how he gets away with that?

Because he looks at Mainoo, Hojlund, Garnacho, Kwambala and now Yoro and sees a chance. Meanwhile Nwaneri played one game and Saka is the only survivor of Emery's youth promotion.

Man Utd have a great record in terms of giving academy products chances though.

Completely disregard overall club performance, the pathway is much more tangible at Man Utd than under Arteta. It's also easier to get minutes for a club in transition instead of a club challenging for the league.

I am friends with someone some here may have heard of, not trying to be an ITK pillock but let’s put it this way, he is very close to the player. I wasn’t that interested at the time as I hadn’t heard of him, but that is what he told me.

That is probably the crux of the matter really. We lost the league by 2 measly points. The margins are hair fine.

Ten Hag is far more likely to give youth chance than Arteta. If you are Man U talking to his people all you gotta say is look at Ten Hag two year record vs Arteta 5 year record and show him even the kids older than him didn’t get minutes in dead rubbers last season. If that was my kid I would honestly move him from current arsenal

This pre season will remind again why kids are wise to leave

👍Fair do's from my recollection you have never been the type to spout spurious nonsense on here.

Are you suggesting a few people may be aware there could be some validity to this but not clubs.

If so I guess it would make sense taking the best money deal on offer?

The kid is born in Denmark. Scandinavia is the last place I would want to be if I had faked my age. He could have just chosen Nigeria and no one would look into it. This picture is when he scored 10 goals. A week before his 16th birthday. He is just a tall kid, but clearly a kid

I am away now for a couple weeks, but when I am back, there is a decent chance I can find out what we offered him. I get to know a few details from the club and academy in particular. I just don’t know if anyone official would ever check this type of forum and I wouldn’t risk causing any trouble.

Arsenal Quotes

In June 1996, David Dein, Peter Hill-Wood and Danny Fiszman came out to Nagoya to meet me on behalf of Arsenal. Within an hour we came to an agreement. The Japanese directors didn't try to keep hold of me in the usual way but talked with persuasive arguments... But as far as I was concerned, the decision was taken. Arsenal. A decision that would change my life.
