The way he was signed tells you everything about how he was never a priority, but more of timing. Havertz gets injured and we have money, so thought bring in one more body

Compared to Rogers who we known since May is a priority for the club. He will just be a backup player next season and rightly so

Our recruitment in attack is horrendous. There's no sugar coating it. Nico Williams is probably the only real top shelf attacking talent that we've given serious pursuit to and there are question marks about whether he'll realize that talent.

That’s a valid point but it’s more the scattergun approach and randomness of profiles we target each window. It’s like throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks.

It doesn't unless we're getting rid of Ødegaard and committing to an out and out 10 with a free role ahead of the other midfielders and then you've got 2 for that position. We're league Champions with a pretty high floor and we made a CL Final so credit is due but we could be a generational and unplayable team with a better approach to squad building and resource allocation.

Yeah that may very well be the case, but if so, then why sign the guy if you aren't fully convinced (the "you" being Arteta and the recruitment staff).

For me personally I rate Eze and his contribution last season, I know others don't feel the same, and I suppose either way getting him in means that ultimately we won the league, but I just don't get the logic of getting a player you don't truly truly rate just to be looking at a somewhat replacement a year later.

When you have the budgets big PL clubs have, you can take a player for a season and look for improvement next season. 5 of the 6 signings last summer turned out to b backup players. Non of them started CL final except Hincapie

Yeah it served its purpose last season, undeniably.

But I don't think it's a sustainable way to operate to sign players for a lot of money if you don't truly truly envisage them being crucial in your plans.

(I say that but this is all speculation at the end of the day. I think Madueke, Hincapie and Mosquera are all players Arteta clearly wanted. Gyokeres was probably more Berta influenced but Arteta still was fine with it. Eze was opportunistic. A bit hard to place how Arteta rates him, given the Rogers noise).

If it's between Rogers for 130m and Tzolis for 40m i'm taking Tzolis every day of the week.

On the one side A-M wants the club to take more risk and sign players from other leagues than the PL and on the other side 90% here would complain again, why we haven't signed players like him before he joins clubs like Brighton, Brentford etc. and will be worth around 80m after one season.

I actually questioned why Eze was taken to the World Cup, it seemed nonsensical when Rogers appeared to be the option ahead of him in every position he could play.

To me it made more sense to take Bowen / Palmer to protect Madueke's value and replace him RW when not working for him and Saka inevitably not fit to start.

It seems however the reason you have them both in the same (England) squad, is for Tuchel to troll Arsenal. "Why would Arsenal spend all that money on Rogers when he is effectively Eze's understudy?"

Tzolis at least appears to offer something different.

Henry say he has watched him a lot and thinks he'll be explosive for us. However he did also highly rate Lokonga and we know how that turned out.

Loks just failed to fulfill his potential and was super slow. Also, Henry should be a better judge of attacking players tbf
