Farzad Wanderers

Best player: Has to be their magic number 10 Alessandro Del Piero. All the Wanderers good play runs through him, and while he bagged 4 assists created countless chances and got on the scoresheet himself a few times.

Best performance: Has to be the famous derby day 4-1 thrashing of Iftarsenal on the final day of the season. All though they didn't manage to get a bye they finished best of the rest with goals from two defenders and a wonderful counter-attacking team goal put away by Muller.

Might as well swap Almunia and Zalayeta because both are diabolical enough it won't make a difference.

On a more serious note, Lambert & Zickler is the only proper position swap that should take place.

The Sapient Hawks

Best player:
Only one real option, it's their one truly world class player Ronald Koeman at center back. The guy's somehow managed to bag 6 assists despite playing with absolute donkeys and is probably the only reason they have any points at all so far...

Best performance: When you only win 2 out of 22 games there's obviously not a lot of performances to choose from. We'll go with their payback on Crackhead FC for the opening day defeat. Keeping a rare clean sheet and putting 3 goals past Bodo Illgner with Koeman of course getting a assist. This was helped by a meltdown from the Crackheads with three red cards but putting 30 shots up whilst not letting the opposition get even 1 is some performance...

Tudor getting a red is no surprise. But Morata & Hleb?

Samuel must've been winding them up to quite a degree

Right so simming done on the first leg and here we go!

It's safe to say there wasn't much confidence in the @Sapient Hawk s ranks before this one, they've not won a game for 6 weeks while Farzad Wanderers are fresh off crushing their hated rivals Iftarsenal FC on the last day of the season.

Sick of his underperforming team the Hawk manager has shaken it up dropping Zalayeta who despite playing at CF all season didn't even register a single goal. In his place he's brought on the big guns in Salomon Kalou. Unfortunately he's injured in the warm up and Zalayeta is back in the starting XI.

@farzad4daarse can only sit up high in the stands to watch this as he's serving a touchline ban for his antics during the derby on the last day of the season.

Kicking off and it's a very cagey opening from both teams. The Hawks have more of the ball and try to push for an advantage but both teams are wary of getting caught out never really overcommit or look to move the ball quickly.

The best action of the first half comes when Neymar then Lewandowski force Almunia into a double save but both shots are straight at him and he's not really trouble. At the other end Angulo is causing Roberto Carlos problems and most of the Hawks chances come down his side.

He has a good pull-back which Sheringham squanders then takes it on himself to unleash a stinger from the edge of the box which Alisson is forced to palm over.

On the other side of the pitch De Boer is lucky not to have been sent off as he goes in hard on Muller but after a long VAR review they stick with the initial yellow card. All in all a pretty uneventful half. 0-0.

Kicking off the second half and Busquets who's already been booked pulls at the shirt of a countering Angulo. Despite loud protests from the home fans the referee doesn't show him a second yellow, in the stands the manager has seen enough and through a series of cryptic hand signals to his assistant, Busquets is hauled off for Koke.

Angulo again fashions a golden opportunity down the right for Sheringham whose weak shot is straight into the arms of Alisson when it was probably easier to score. His manager has seen enough and on comes super sub Zickler for the rest of the game.

Trying to capitalise on a rare good performance @Sapient Hawk gambles and sends on Zenden for Paul Lambert to try and get some more chances but might leave them exposed going the other way. Still though the longer the game goes on the less and less likely it seems that anyone is actually going to breakthrough.

With the home crowd actually starting to think of the 2nd leg without conceding an away goal disaster strikes with just minutes left. Zenden is dispossessed in the center circle and suddenly the ball is played to Neymar who has space to run into.

Del Piero makes a first man run to the near post dragging Walter Samuel with him, Neymar tries to slide rule it to him but Samuel corrects and manages to stick out a diving boot to get something on the ball. The deflection skews into the middle of the box where an arriving Lewandowski smashes it past a sprawling Almunia at his near post.

The home fans put their heads in their hands as their team seems to have thrown away yet ANOTHER game from a decent position and start trudging towards the exits.

With a final throw of the dice, the Hawks throw everything forwards. They get a knockdown from a Jaime long ball, it falls to Angulo who takes it past the substitute left back Salgado into the box and John Terry dangles a leg out which the Spanish winger gratefully falls over.

Referee points to the spot and the remaining home fans rush back to their seats celebrating. On the pitch meanwhile all hell has broken loose, Terry stood over Angulo swearing at him for diving and a fuming Samuel pushes him over.

A melee breaks out and after several minutes of arguing, the ref shows Samuel a yellow and the penalty is ready to be taken.

Zalayeta feels it's his time to shine and grabs the ball...

which is taken straight back by Koeman and a dismissive handwave.

He stares down Alisson in goal with Dutch inscrutability and....

BURIES IT!

The Hawks are back on terms and minutes later the ref blows an end to a drab game with an incredible ending. In the post match conference a fuming @farzad4daarse rants about the Trumpian referee and his incompetent assistant managers who brought on Michel Salgado a right back to replace his star left back but they're still in a better position than the Hawks thanks to an away goal.

Two things we learned:

1. I'm beset on every side by traitors & opportunists.

2. Zalayeta has clearly got the number of Pogba's witch-doctor
