He was elite except for that pass giving the corner. Absolutely outplayed their "attackers"

Poor back pass today, but ask yourself this: Did he struggle against Newcastle's forwards? I'd say no. Physically, he is at the level.
He was good, despite the mistake. Mikel is the manager so it was his decision but the substitution put the spotlight on him.

Arteta didnt sub off Gabriel despite being weak on the corner. We as a team had to defend that corner, too.

Yeah it was a poor back pass and then it seemed like it rattled him a bit that we conceded from the ensuing corner. Arteta taking him off looks harsh but actually may have done him a favor in the long run preventing him from letting the frustration impact his play for longer and maybe make another mistake. Zero complaints about him in any other sense though. He's going to be a top player. Just needs to put this one in the rear view mirror and go again.

Mosquera it was not his day today but solid performance, he was solid before the mistake what game were you watching and also mistakes are part of football... mosquera had woltemade in the pockets before his mistake

Gabriel also made a terrible mistake today and Saliba has an error in him (the goal he gave up to Madrid comes to mind). He’ll be fine and probably the right call to protect him when you have an option like Saliba to call on. Performance levels are already on a different planet to what anyone here could have expected

could be some moments but really didn't notice Newcastle even threat us 1st half. apart from 2 Gordon outside the box attempts. of course we don't need to over use Mosquera but i won't be worried if he start for us specially to give Saliba some rest.

Oh definitely not. I'm not worried about him at all. I just hope the manager explained his decision to him and made sure he was alright.

Yeah he just snatched at the ball a bit and hit it out. The better move was probably just to hold the attacker off and force him to commit a foul but I can also understand him maybe thinking one would not have been called and trying to get rid of the ball instead.

one bad pass shouldn't really tell the whole story he was very good in 1st half Newcastle didn't trouble us. harsh sub but we need someone more experience while we chasing the lead.

hopefully he starting in midweek we got CL game right?

Tbf he had a couple of loose passes, but otherwise he played well. Woltemade didn’t get much change out of him.

Subbing him at half time was harsh but it’s a learning curve. He’s probably played a lot more than he expected to at this point.

Bit harsh to go hard on him for the corner, it happens to all defenders once in a while and rarely gets punished like that, Gabriel for example was a more egregious defensive mistake for me.

Still, both have been almost flawless this season so I won't go hard on them either way. Specially Mosquera, Saliba literally scored an own goal on his first game with us

It's a mistake, and just unlucky it led to the goal. Gabriel more directly at fault than him though.

Arsenal Quotes

The coach's role is to make the player understand everything that serves the interest of the game. To do this he must speak to the child within each player, to the adolescent he was and the adult he is now. Too often a coach tends only to speak to the adult, issuing commands for performance, for victory, for reflection, to the detriment of the child who is playing for pleasure, living in the present.
