Cristhian Mosquera: Backline Makeover

Interesting passage of play. He was really naive to begin with and showed his lack of experience, but then incredible recovery.

That was a delicious touch tbf to Thiago.
That Igor Thiago guy is something else. I don't watch Brentford much so I'd seen he had a bunch of goals but wasn't really familiar with his game. He doesn't seem like someone just having a good spell scoring. He looks the real deal. I've never seen Gabby XL bullied like that.

Interesting take. He looks a decent striker but more of a brute than anything else. Be interesting to see how he performs next season.

This is what I assumed about him before watching him yesterday. Without a doubt he's very physical but did you see some of the passes he was making? I don't think he's just a brute at all. There's definitely some game intelligence and technical quality there. I was really impressed by him. Still only 24 as well.

Yeah the guy really been good not many strikers we faced this season that caused us lot of issues and we faced lot of good strikers.

I've never seen Haaland do what he did to Gabby. It was eye opening.

Really have no clue how Mosquera recovered there. Sure he got done at the beginning but that recovery was truly elite.

Reminded me of Kolo Toure.

we will get banter in this game with rob holding,

very good notice from you man, he look like mateta 2.0 who many times bullied big gabi and saliba when against palace away last season but the difference is igor has better finishing than mateta

and the way he chip the ball to dribble past mosquera really surprised me damn, he almost scored

Yeah I think that's a good comparison. He's like a more advanced and refined Mateta.

We did for sure. People are complaining Saliba gets too many touches etc but ultimately he is actually really important to our build up play recently.
And this is why the constant injuries are starting to have an effect.

Yeah it’s nice having a deep squad for games like Burnley away or Brighton at home but it’s starting to get annoying when we’re never at full strength for games like yesterday where you really just need your first choice XI. We haven’t had a first choice XI all season…

Good player but he’s no Saliba, who we missed a lot yesterday (not holding this against him).
We should be thinking of Mosquera as an alternative to Pablo Mari, Rob Holding, David Luiz, Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis not Saliba.

I absolutely love him. Timber may be the best 1v1 defender in the world but he's also pretty clearly physically and mentally spent. Mosquera locked down his side of the pitch and immediately gave us more control when he came on. It's crazy how reliable he is at this young age in his first season in a new country and team operating in a new language. Can't give him enough credit.

Arsenal Quotes

When we won the title on May 3-rd by beating Everton 4-0 as Tony Adams scored that iconic goal, we showed everyone and especially Manchester United that we could beat them. Thirteen days later, when we beat Newcastle 2-0 in the FA Cup final in the legendary Wembley Stadium, it was wonderful... I felt immensely proud for the team, for the club: this was the fantastic response I was able to give to those who had put their confidence in me, as well as those who had put me through all those difficult weeks when I first arrived.
