For all the stick Raya took on here for his height he’s one of the most dominant keepers in the entire league with crosses. He’s so solid you can see how comfortable and calm our defenders are with him.

That's his most important quality imo. He is so calm, so unfazed by the amount of crosses he faces during games. And he does not just punch them out, he collects and stops any danger. No second balls to fight for. Defenders can relax around him. His distribution and reflexes are a bonus.

I think he was really poor at times last season and gave away so many chances or goals from individual errors. At one stage I thought it was too far gone and I could never trust him again as 1st choice keeper here, really didn’t like him.

However, he finished the season strong and has been class so far this season. He’s coming into his own at the moment.

The great thing is that while our defense is fantastic in terms of goals conceded, we have not been quite as stingy to start this season in terms of chances conceded and he has risen to the challenge of facing more shots by making big saves when called upon. That's what you want from your keeper.

The way he is playing right now he is in a different league than Ramsdale and well worth the money spent to upgrade. Not only better and more calm on the ball but now also making elite saves like the one vs villa and wolves and also is the best claimer of crosses in the league. And he surely must inspire a lot more calmness and confidence in the defence in front of him compared to Ramsdale. They are playing really well as a cohesive unit back there now.
