Yeah, they can think that having Elneny as ultimate backup for different scenarios, is worth the cost of any extension, especially as you can loan him at the minimum and get much of the wages paid. He is a good player for other leagues.

We don't know the extent of the injury either. Hard to see them extending if it's 9-12 months out. The wages will be paid until summer no matter what.
