Declan Rice: All Hands On Dec

He’s in the Ode, Saka, Saliba bracket of importance and ability.
If you can’t see that then football ain’t for you I’m afraid, go watch competitive padel.
I like Rice but he’s not.

The fact is he’s being played out of position to accommodate Partey. So if anything it’s TP5 alongside the three you mentioned.

Genuinely think if e.g. Rice had done these flicks in our last game half this board would be calling him an idiot.
If Rice was told to do this there’d be heart palpitations, extreme sweating and nausea at the thought of him doing something so full of flair…and that would be my reaction.

Dec would probably spontaneously combust.

At this point I've just accepted some people see footballers from 20+ years ago as flawless and everyone playing today pale in comparison.

Really encourage anyone to sit down a watch a full match from around 2000-2003. It looks like a different sport, the ball is getting turned over every 3-5 touches, defenders are allowed to borderline assault players, players are getting dispossessed left and right dribbling through dangerous areas and clearly no-one understood the concept of risk/reward.

I mean ffs look at this passage of play:

Great fun to watch though, but **** me is it painful to read some of the stuff people say about the guys playing back then.

This season; the first forty seconds are as bad as you’ll see in any generation.

Doesn’t Rate Any Of Our Attackers
For the money we paid and his vaunted reputation this guy should be leading us to league titles. Otherwise he’s a flop. High bar but thems the facts.

A Swedish CB is the most humble footballer out there and knows its place. Head the ball and pass to nearest player. That’s how we program them
In all fairness, the current Norway team, which for some weird reason has great attacking players, could do with Olof Mellberg, flicks or not....

Gunner come out of the closet any day now…
So could current Sweden team. There’s no good Scandinavian CBs anymore

We got a few tbf. None of them really world class or anything but you could do a lot worse than Christensen and Andersen. Bit funny though how Norway and Sweden are lining up with several top class CFs yet we're still regularly giving minutes to Dolberg and Yussuf Poulsen.

Man I’ve literally just opened my eyes and first thing I’m doing is loading up AM and fighting, this needs to stop.

But seriously no, you can’t be in that bracket if you can’t stay fit.

What we’re seeing from TP5 this season is rare, you can’t be important when every season since he’s missed so many vital games and the run in, I’m sorry.

You’re conflating technical ability with tactical instructions, they are not the same thing.

English football in the 90s was a ****ing joke. The reason it isn’t now is in no small part down to Arsène Wenger who paved the way for more technical players to thrive in what was a predominantly hoofball league.

Unless of course you want to talk down the great man’s achievements in which case…

Definitely wasn't confusing the two. I was talking about technical ability, which can be dumbed down by too much tactical instruction. And not necessarily about the English league.

You've made up your own story there to shoe horn Arsène Wenger into the equation. I see what you've done. Ha ha! Very clever.😂

Mikel… Is this real?

You guys can simp for Rice all you want, knock yourselves out!

But my bar is a bit higher than that, tbh...I need to see some trophies from him first, and not the only thing he is holding tightly after a match is an oppo player after a horrible loss 👍

Good luck to the loser though, hope he can prove me wrong.

Arsenal Quotes

The biggest things in life have been achieved by people who, at the start, we would have judged crazy. And yet if they had not had these crazy ideas the world would have been more stupid.
