Declan Rice: All Hands On Dec

I think he might catch pelters for that pass to Gyok (and tbh it opened up for him in the box, so he should've shot), but aside from that I was impressed with his performance.

It felt like he was the only player today trying to drive forward and trying to make something happen.

Too bad everyone else was pretty much sleeping on the wheel.

Passing it wasn’t necessarily a bad decision but it needed to be with his left so it was out in front of Gyok to hit it first time. The pass he ended up making was really poor because it was behind him.

I still cant believe he passed up that shot lmao. I’m literally getting flashbacks of seeing Ben Simmons do that against a player who was 1 whole foot shorter than him. I just can’t ****ing believe it. If there was gone guy I would’ve put money on to take that shot in that position, it’s him

He pulls the trigger in way less favorable positions all the time, I don’t get it. Just pick a corner and it’s a goal

This team just doesnt have it tbh. I dont think they have the killer instinct. I really genuinely dont. There's one player I think legitimately has the killer instinct and imo its Trossard. Everybody else is a bunch of ****s

Still our best player in the match.

Consistent 7 or 8 ratings. He and the defense and keepers hold us together. Everyone else are inconsistent at best.

I’m always a bit sympathic with Rice and his issues in the final third tbh. This is a guy whose football education was CB in his formative years then a MoyesBall DM when he broke though.

The improvement he’s shown wrt attack is already more than anybody could have realistically expected imo, genuinely generational in that aspect imo. It’s like watching Timber becoming a Hakimi type in the space of 2-3 years. It just doesn’t happen often at the highest level.

The thing is though, even a Hakimi is occasionally going to have moments where they show you why they’re not a RW. It’s upsetting that it’s happened in this game but he’ll learn from it, maybe. He’s not an AM at the end of the day.

He's also largely played on the wrong side of the midfield. He could be playing on the right side of midfield and firing in those KDB/Trent lasers to Gyok if we actually attacked with any conviction.

Massive waste. Just like the Saka - ST - Noni with them switching wings that we’ll never see or Saka in the A-M position even though he can 1 million percent play there that we’ll never see.

Questions will have to be asked if the results end up not justifying the rigidity.

Yeah that's spot on. It's really hard to watch Rice in the final 3rd, he can still sometimes be decent at it but most of the time it is so unnatural to him.

The attempted pass was not only behind him, it was an awful decision to do so. I remember someone in the live thread trying to shift the agenda to blame Gyokeres for not shooting early, it was hilarious. How can someone shoot from a pass that didn't even reach him  One of the worst takes ever.

You can tell he's really trying but doesn't have an ounce of creativity in him.

Look at around 50 seconds in this video, he has 3 players running into the box but he isn't capable of doing a through ball so goes for the easy pass out wide. This is why our forwards struggle.

Not an ounce of creativity? Rice is second in the PL for chances created.
