I’m concerned about him being back in the starting lineup so quickly after last season and the World Cup.
He seemed fatigued and half-injured by the end of the season. He hardly had any summer break.
Declan would never give up on a chance to play. We don’t want him injured by March. I hope he rests.

Honestly started to notice that games where Rice looks very good the whole team typically doesn’t lol. Typically shines when we allow the opposing team to have the ball and ask him to be an absolute beast on 50/50s, which is what we did today after we scored

I just rewatched the Villa game and I must say that Declan Rice made some immense defensive contributions in that game. He’s honestly become very consistent in that regard.

Is that not his bread and butter? That's literally what makes him world class, his off ball defensive play and athleticism. He is good on the ball, but not really creative as a playmaker and not that great in tight spaces under pressure when it comes to technique and decision making.

He looked fine after the match. He was smiling and walking normally. I think he just cramped up a bit and came off as a precaution.

He has come back well - I thought he was going to struggle to maintain his levels this season after seeing England at the WC but it doesn't look the case, cross fingers.

I was about to comment that I think him not been stuck as a left sided midfielder is letting him express himself more. He is popping up in more central or right hand side positions.

If you think about that really nice disguised vertical pass to Ødegaard vs Coventry before we scored, and a couple in this game too, they came from the right hand side. He has barely been in those positions for years now.

I said this last season that I’d love to see him more on the right because if would open up the pitch for him and I think that’s what we’re seeing - and it’s meaning he can make nkcer forward passes. Easier to do when MLS plays as he is left footed but I hope we can see this even when Bruno plays in the midfield.
