Waste of an engine to not play him b2b, managers kept coming to the same conclusion with Kante as well. Why play a guy in one position when he can cover the space of both and allow you to overload somehere on the pitch?

Rice is much better in the final third than Kante though and that’s why things could get scary if he improves even a little bit in the attacking sense.

Yep, he's the type of midfielder that needs (and deserves) a free role. As you say his engine is such that you actually limit the team if he's not allowed to move around the pitch.

I think Zubi and Ødegaard are the perfect midfielders to counter balance this. Both provide a lot of balance, especially on the ball.
