I've never understood fashion that doesn't have at least some practical application to it. Can't imagine owning any clothing that can only be worn in one type of situation.

Yeah I get that. Fashion like this just typically isn't for practical occasions, it's a one-off wear for a special event. It acts as an art piece of sorts, is celebratory, marks the event, makes you stand out. It's for people who have money to burn as people do with art pieces and such. I'm with you in that I wouldn't purchase this either but I don't think anyone would (as something to wear more than once).
