JWP was hyped to all hell for us and was definitely capable of some outrageous whips but the consistency wasn't even close to what Rice is doing right now.

Sure but you still need to execute. The way he's whipping these balls in consistently beating the first defenders by just a few inches is nightmare stuff to defend. It's so weird how clearly better overall technical players have far worse delivery than this yet here's a guy derided for being basic as **** technically taking corners so well it's become of the biggest weapons in the league.

Best no.8 performance he’s put in all season IMO. Carried the ball superbly and obviously his set piece deliveries are almost indefensible.

He needs to fine tune certain aspects of his game then we’ve got a hell of a player. ATM I still think he’s trapped between an elite no.6 and a great no.8.

He did well in his less comfortable role and moreso in the second half than the first. His corner delivery is deadly. Now, when he runs forward, surely he has the confidence to execute a pass. If he can add that to his game, he'll be a more rounded player and kill fewer attacks. I'd like to see him take a direct fk if we ever get one too. Looking good.

Take comfort in the fact that it would’ve been more painful to waste a Rice-Cazorla-Özil midfield on Jiroo.
