Declan Rice: Luxury Price, Missing Spice

Gunner come out of the closet any day now…
@grange

Mr hug every oppo player when we lose but none of that happiness and fun from our players is back at it again...

...this is why I hate him, ngl... talking about Carragher in this part, but also Rice.

What a ridicolous claim.

It's poorly worded but I meant to say he's come out and seemed to question why he's playing more advanced.

Let's remember, this guy was developed as a centreback. Now he's being deployed at 8 in one of the most technical teams in the world?

Have you ever seen this work successfully in the last 30 years?

England have produced better tournament outcomes with Rice than they have done with any other English midfielder bar Nobby Stiles in 1966. If that's Rice being misused, **** me, I'd love to see what him being used correctly would manifest. I think you're galaxy braining here.

Nah he played different roles in both tournaments. Plus England's tactics and system were different each time. No need to galaxy brain; because it's simple. Play players to their strengths lol.

Well, just an opinion so what's the issue?

The issue is that YOU were complaining about the corollary of this exact thing. You’re a hypocrite. Not only for this. You’re here moaning about Rice’s price tag but defending Kai who was objectively a much more egregious use of funds given their effectiveness.

It’s very very very difficult to take anything you say seriously.

The issue with Rice has always been a mental one rather than a technical one.

Playing at a club like West Ham for 6 or so years certain decisions and behaviours become ingrained in you. Rice's inclination has been safety first play with the occasional Hollywood action thrown in.

To change your mentality is as tough as improving your technique. Many players just can't do it.

He's improving in this aspect and will still get a lot better.

Honestly since the tie was over I’m kinda glad it happened. We play that specific pass way too much and have had many close calls. The safer pass is on his sides every time

We barely play through the middle when we are attacking the oppo's box, but we constantly do this and ignore the wings when in our box...ass backwards modern football!

I can't believe how normalised it is for some loser to just talk about another human being, who they know absolutely nothing about, like this? I know he's probably just some dumb kid who watched a bunch of Andrew Tate stuff, but it's scary that he's not even just making fun of her there's a strong possibility he's asking this question genuinely because he doesn't view women as anything more than a trophy to make you look good.

Why are you even posting that here? Giving it attention for no reason really.

I agree on the one hand these guys don't deserve the attention. But on the other I don't think people should just turn a blind eye to it either. I mean it's got well over 500 likes and it's been Retweeted a fair bit so it's gonna be shared by either those agreeing with the sentiment or those like myself maybe giving it the attention it doesn't deserve.

Problem is the English football media are so biased and unbalanced that it influences fans. It's like the daily Arsenal on talksport 15 years ago trying to bring Wenger down.

Rice is worth £80-90M in the right style and system, but doesn’t align with what we’ve seemingly built recently. For example, I think he has a higher ceiling than Roy Keane, not saying he's better now, but in the right team, he has the attributes to imitate that profile. Managers like Alex Ferguson, Conte, and Mourinho would love him.

He’s a good, consistent player for us, but at £105M, he’s still underwhelming. He also doesn’t unlock Ødegaard like Partey can.

This is the truth but emotional and especially English Arsenal fans don't want to admit this. I feel sorry for Rice; he knows himself he isn't good enough.
Wow you’re completely right. I see it in Declan, he knows his bread and butter is maximum effort, but probably looks at TP5, even MLS and they are naturally more talented.

That interception he made for West Ham when Partey tried to flick it over his head is a microcosm of his career, and how he adds real value to a team.

Arsenal Quotes

In a football match anything can happen, the players, 90 minutes, fantastic moves, an element of luck, talent, courage, and touch of magic and, for those who are watching these men play, the search for excitement, for a memory, for a lesson in life.
