He will probably win our player of the year. Big games is his specialty now. He thrives under huge pressure and when the team needs him he is always the driving force, unlike other players... cough cough blonde Norwegian vegan

Very important yesterday, that tackle on Rasmus Sanogo was immense and at least he shoots on target, which can't be said for many others.

Nothing wrong with his celebration too, shushing OT after his goal. It's only at Arsenal where these things get questioned. I remember the entire Liverpool team and Klopp celebrating a last minute draw at home vs. West Brom, with Henderson defending why they did it afterwards.

Mr Wayne. I don't see our starboy as a people leader, unfortunately.
He's been leading our football club since he was 18 years old. He's also been England's best and most consistent player since he broke into the national team. If carrying the football team isn't leading it then I'm not sure what is.

Tbf leading the club by virtue of being its best player, and leading players by motivating them are two different things. I’m not saying he can’t do it, but our best captains have rarely been our best players. I don’t think there’s a huge correlation there. They just can’t be one of our poorer players. Saka seems like a quiet kind of guy that might do a humble brag now and again but that’s about it.

We’ve had a non vocal captain for the last however many years and I’d like a switch to a more traditional vocal captain. Rice and Gabi are the only options for that imo. And Gabi still does some weird things sometimes…

Also thinking about it more making Rice captain would make half the fools on here spontaneously implode every time he shakes hands with the opposing captain and referees (even though it’s like a rule) and this would amuse me greatly so he gets my vote. Perhaps we could employ the ex Body Language Consultant recently made redundant at United to study exactly how the angle of Rice’s arm when going in for the handshake conclusively proves his testicles are 38% smaller than the average male.

I can understand this bolded line of thinking and I've probably shared it at some point but the more I think about it, the more I prefer guys who lead by example. First of all, players should be self-motivated so nobody should really need to tell them anything but for me, if someone is going to say something, I think it should be the guy who best embodies what the club is supposed to be about.

When we were truly in the gutter a few years ago, it was Saka who put it on his shoulders to elevate us. He's taken the biggest strides and he best exemplifies the professionalism and work ethic that every player should have. We wouldn't have even been in a position to attract a Declan Rice without Saka.

I grew up watching Derek Jeter lead the Yankees and while he wasn't the kind of guy to scream and shout, the example that he set ensured that everyone listened when he did speak and knew what to expect from the club.

That's what I want from our Captain and while I think Rice and Gabi would both be very capable vice-captains, for me nobody has more credibility in terms of giving everything of himself for this club every match than Saka. That's why I think armband should be his if he wants it. I do agree though, it would be amusing seeing the meltdown if Rice got it.

This is fair. You’ve converted me. The way Saka adds something to his game every year by clearly practicing the **** out of it in the offseason is something that all our players should look to do.

Yeah, this guy is least of our problems. I am just trying to imagine him with Zubimendi and to me it’s a great match. Just like Jorginho, you need someone who can step up and play cute passes all over the pitch and Zubi can do that.

I know he’s not Gerrard on the ball but he doesn’t need to be. He’s a monster man

Despite scoring he seems fully aware that his lack of action in the final third is an issue for the team. Amount of times his stated in an interview he needs to improve or that it's not his natural game.

An additional creative midfielder would lighten the load given how often Ødegaard like to drop deep anyway, but Ethan is likely all we can hope for there.

He's always rubbing the back of his neck, never seen someone with more obvious nervous ticks. He did the same in one of the interviews he had after the game.
He’s just a down to earth guy trying his best to learn a new role and doing a pretty decent job relative to his physical/technical limitations.

He gets an unfair amount of stick that should really be diverted to the manager.

Yeah I'm not having a go at him for it, it's a pretty normal thing as you say it shows he's human. Just funny how obvious he is with it.

It is well known the referees are protected very well like the lions in the zoo so we have to live with their decisions
