The question is whether Man City match it. I’m confident they will. Normally a club briefs pretty quickly if they’re dropping out of the bidding because the price has gone too high to prevent a loss of face (e.g. us with Mudryk). Radio silence from Man City, who have the deepest pockets in world football, isn’t positive.

If West Ham want to carry on playing these games we should publicly walk away. It's getting silly now from our perspective.

Let Man City have him for £90m or whatever. Without us you've got no leverage to get Man City to up their bid and we all know Rice is leaving this summer.

Yeah I don't expect City to even match this tbh, but we'd be dumb not to at least explore that option.

I fully expect this bid to be what gets you Rice. I think City saw that getting him below the £100m valuation looked somewhat on and they made a bid accordingly. After we rejected and now with your reported £105m bid coming in, I fully expect this saga to be over within a day or two. I don't see City going up to £105m, it would look horrendous for their PR as well with the allegations etc. Seems likely to me that the £5m in addons are probably still the "unrealistic" ones that you packaged into £15m earlier, but with a base fee of £100m that obviously doesn't matter.

We wanted £100m and it looks like that's what we're going to get. If we get another £5m on top it's probably because Saka and Rice are bouncing around on a PL or CL trophy stage and I highly doubt you give a **** at that point
